Enjoyable light Victorian fictionBy CustomerThis collection of stories, which introduces Raffles the dilettante jewel thief and his faithful partner "Bunny", is more enjoyable for the well described Victorian settings and colorful English characters than the somewhat tame capers they attempt. Those who enjoy Masterpiece Theater for the dialogue and period mannerisms will probably like this book, but others may also since it moves faster and is more light-hearted than most Victorian literature.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The Start of the Raffles collection of storiesBy Gary S.Hornung has mirrored Alfred Conan Doyle in style with this collection of stories told from the point of view of a beleaguered assistant in crime in much the same way that Watson assists Holmes. A scamp (or worse depending on view), Raffles steals from the rich rather than maintain a traditional occupation so that he can live in the comfort he desires, but violence and mayhem are never a part of his plan.
