Google Calendar @ MSU Sync for BlackBerry

Google Sync allows you to download contacts and events onto your BlackBerry, and upload contacts and calendar events from your BlackBerry (two-way synchronization over the air).

1) On your phone or computer, follow this link: http://www.google.com/mobile/blackberry/ 2) Click Send to Phone

3) Enter your phone number into the space provided 4) Click on Send a text message to your phone

You will be presented with a confirmation of the message being sent.

You will then receive a text message on your phone.

5) Click on the link provided within the text message. (http://m.google.com/?dc=mgc_bb) 6) You will be redirected here:

7) Click on the link that says Sync. 8) Click Install Now and then Download when prompted:

Your install will begin automatically.

9) Click OK when finished

NOTE: Ignore Install Now if prompted again.

You can locate the Google Sync app in a number of ways:

In either the Contacts or Calendar page of your phone, hit the Blackberry Key to bring up Google Sync:

OR - You can also find Google Sync in your Downloads folder:

10) Click on the Google Sync app and sign into your ([email protected]) and NetID password

Once you have signed in, your phone will begin to automatically sync your contacts and calendar information from Google. You will be prompted with a screen showing your Last Successful Sync and data usage:

11) With this screen still open, click the Blackberry Key on your phone to bring up a menu 12) Go to Options

13) Within Options, check the following settings:

• When to Sync is set to Automatic • Check Sync Contacts • Check Sync Calendar • You can Sync Events anywhere from the next 4 -12 weeks. • You can Keep Events from previous weeks, anywhere from 1- 4 • Check Synchronize Reminders

Now that you have set everything to sync automatically, you need to tell which calendar you are syncing. Staying in Options, scroll all the way to bottom until you see Sync These Calendars with your calendar listed.

14) Hit the Blackberry Key on your phone and click on Save 15) When prompted with Do you want to sync now? hit YES

16) If you want to sync with other calendars, click the Blackberry Key within Options 17) Click Change Option

You will see a list of your calendars that are set up within Google – you can now select which ones you want to have synced within your phone.

Once you have selected your calendars, your calendars will be ready to sync for the first time. It may take a few minutes for the initial sync as it is pulling your data from Google.

18) When it asks you Would you like to sync? hit Yes

You have successfully setup Google Sync to your phone. You can now go to your calendar and/or contacts to see everything that has synced to your phone.

** (If you want to sync manually at any time, go to the Sync app and select Sync Now from the menu.)
