Radio Stations KLQV (FM) and KLNV (FM), , CA Radio San Diego

The purpose of this EEO Public File Report (“Report”) is to comply with Section 73.2080(c) (6) of the FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule. This Report has been prepared on behalf of the Station Employment Unit that is comprised of the following station(s): KLQV(FM) and KLNV(FM), San Diego, and is required to be placed in the public inspection files of these stations, and posted on their websites, if they have websites.

The information contained in this Report covers the time period beginning August 1, 2016 to and including July 21, 2017 (the “Applicable Period”).

The FCC’s 2002 EEO Rule requires that this Report contain the following information:

1. A list of all full-time vacancies filled by the Station(s) comprising the Station Employment Unit during the Applicable Period;

2. For each such vacancy, the recruitment source(s) utilized to fill the vacancy (including, if applicable, organizations entitled to notification pursuant to Section 73.2080(c)(1)(ii) of the new EEO Rule, which should be separately identified), identified by name, address, contact person and telephone number;

3. The recruitment source that referred the hiree for each full-time vacancy during the Applicable Period;

4. Data reflecting the total number of persons interviewed for full-time vacancies during the Applicable Period and the total number of interviewees referred by each recruitment source utilized in connection with such vacancies; and

5. A list and brief description of the initiatives undertaken pursuant to Section 73.2080(c) (2) of the FCC rules.

Appendices 1, 2 and 3 which follow have been designed, in the aggregate, to provide the required information. For purposes of this Report, a vacancy was deemed “filled” not when the offer was extended but when the hiree accepted the job offer. A person was deemed “interviewed” whether he or she was interviewed in person and/or over the telephone.

Univision Radio, San Diego, continues to make regular on-air announcements inviting interested parties who might wish to receive employment notices to contact, Laura Wright, HR Manager. The employment unit has not received any requests for job opening notifications during this period.

Participated in Job/Career Fairs:

1. On April 12, 2017 Univision Radio San Diego participated Career at the Pathways to Success Job Fair – at the Martin Luther King Jr Community Center in National City, CA. Univision had a booth where hiring managers Nate Mendez, Terry Woods and Mery Lopez-Gallo answered job seekers’ questions regarding job opportunities at Univision Radio.

2. NAB Career Fair on April 25, 2017- Las Vegas, NV Univision Radio San Diego’s Director, Community Empowerment, Mery Lopez-Gallo participated at the Las Vegas NAB Career Fair where they spoke and met with students and a diverse group of individuals from different parts of the nation interested in careers in broadcasting. KLNV- FM and KLQV-FM job postings and job descriptions were distributed at this event.

Participated in Events Sponsored by Educational Institutions:

1. Women’s Conference – Celebrating Latinos. On August 6, 2016 Mary Lopez Gallo, Director of Community Empowerment was invited to participate at this event as a Mistress of Ceremonies. She welcomed the new Mexican Council General for San Diego and shared her personal experience, job opportunities in broadcasting and Univision Radio in particular. Other Univision members also attended.

2. On February 3, 2017, Bianca Roman, Promotions Coordinator was invited to participate the St. John Chrysostom Elementary School. Bianca visited eight (8) classrooms and spoke to the students about education preparation and her personal career experience in broadcasting. Bianca answered the student’s questions regarding Univision and shared pictures and links.

3. STEM Festival – On March 4, 2017 KLNV and KLQV stations participated at the annual festival which focus on educating attendees on Science, Engineering and Technology. Univision staff specifically engaged in activities related to Radio and Careers in the broadcast industry.

4. STEM in your Backyard: Barrio Logan. On March 7, 2017 the stations’ promotions department participated in the STEM in your Backyard event sponsored by the Biocom Institute & Reuben H Fleet Science Museum. The promotions team had the opportunity to meet with hundreds of families and discuss education in the field of STEM and careers in Radio.

5. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) On March 13, 2017, our On-Air Personalities and Promotions staff participated at the STEM Festival Expo where more than 25,000 families and children attended. Univision staff engaged with the audience with their traveling studio and attendees had the opportunity to act as DJs and learn about the Radio technology and career in the industry.

6. International Women’s Day – Univision Radio stations organized an event to honor International Women’s Day by having three workshops to empower the audience. Univision’s General Manager, Sabina Widmann, addressed the audience about career opportunities in the Radio industry. Director, Community Empowerment Mery Lopez Gallo served as Mistress of Ceremonies

7. Chicano Federation Annual Unity Luncheon – on May 5, 2017 Radio Host Personality and Director of Community Empowerment Mery Lopez Gallo served as the MC at this event and had the opportunity to speak to audience about careers in the Radio industry. Other Univision members also attended.

8. South Bay Community Services – Mi Escuelita Pre-School Graduation event. On June 8, 2017 General Manager Sabina Widmann and Director, Community Empowerment Mery Lopez Gallo participated at this event by providing students with backpacks and supplies. They also had the opportunity to address the student’s parents about the Radio industry and careers.

9. San Diego State University – On June 12, 2017 Univision Studios hosted two students who were interested in learning about careers in Radio. The students had the opportunity to meet with managers and staff and ask questions regarding different positions in the Radio industry.

10. Southern California Broadcasters Association Scholarship – as a committee member, Leslie Villem, Director of Sales actively participated in the California Community Foundation Scholarship Fund review process and selection from May 15, 2017 through June 30, 2017.

Participation in Job Banks:

California Broadcasters Association and San Diego Broadcasters Association, job banks of media trade groups with broad-based membership (including women and minorities) was utilized for all the job positions filled during the reporting period.

Establishment of In-House EEO Training

The employment unit provides training and information to management level personnel as to methods of ensuring equal employment opportunity and preventing discrimination.

Among the unit’s other efforts, on June 20, 2017, a memo was sent to staff reiterating our Equal Employment Opportunity policy.
