To be able of over 60 volunteers who dedicate their time and resources to learn from them has been a highlight for me. Tim Malseed came to the club three years ago and had a big impact with his experience and leadership. He also retires from WAFL football and I wish him the best with his future. If ever there was a true clubman, Ray Smithers would be it. Ray retires this year after 157 games, 2 league premierships, and Vice Captaincy amongst many other accolades. I’ve always looked up to Ray both as a player and as a person, and am proud to call him a friend. The way he went about his career has been inspiring and I wish him all the best for his future and his travels, and no doubt we’ll see him around the club again. 2010 will be an exciting year, with some younger players looking to rise up and show the WAFL what they can do. They realise now what it takes to achieve success and will be working even harder next year to achieve another premiership and show what a great team they are.

I congratulate you all on a highly of these areas, which has resulted in a senior squad that is better rewarding and successful season. equipped to meet the on-fi eld challenges. The Bulldogs Reserves completed a remarkable season by GARRY FULLER winning the Grand Final in typical workman-like fashion. In Reserves Coach tough conditions, the players withstood enormous pressure before taking control late in the game, a trait that was displayed regularly over the course of the season. Our home and away record was 17 wins and only three losses, the largest being by fi ve points from a kick after the fi nal siren! With many highlights and gutsy performances throughout the season, their second semi fi nal effort against the Sharks ranks as one of the best. All the things that made them such a strong team came together in that game, as they dominated their opponents physically and mentally in an effort that really set up our Grand Final win. Throughout the season 51 players represented the Bulldogs standout Reserves and, with an average age of 21 years, the challenge that lies ahead for many of these players is to continue to improve and signs to forge a League career in a very talented squad. If their level of professionalism, commitment and unity can be sustained then the future looks very positive for our club. Sustained success comes from strong support, and the Reserves players were well catered for James Bridle and Darren McPartland ensured that fi tness and rehabilitation programs were of the highest quality. Greg Wootton, Merv Lockhart and the medical personnel carried out their duties in a highly professional manner, keeping the players on the oval for when it really counted. Once again Ron, Sandy, Carl and John made sure that the players and coaches had everything they needed at training and on match days, and our statisticians provided quality information that assisted players’ improvement. I received great support from my assistants Greg Townsend and the only choice for Nathan Ritchie. Greg took control of the team in my absence in high quality signage June, a period in which he now claims a “world record” for the team’s 108 point victory over Claremont! Les Olivieri and Matt Callaghan carried out their duties as runners with enthusiasm and professionalism, hardly missing a training session along the way. Their dedication and friendship is much appreciated. And Peter 9409 9641 Matier’s organisational excellence once again provided stability under pressure in his role as team manager. Finally, I must thank 47 Berriman Dve Wangara Haydn Raitt and the board for their ongoing support throughout [email protected] the year.
