  • AIC 24P Workflow
Guide to Capturing 720p24 HDV from the JVC HD-100 or JVC BR-HD50 By Graeme Nattress FInal Cut Pro does not natively support JVC’s 720p24 HDV format but can be made to capture it. Apple’s initial support for HDV was through iMovie and Final Cut Express, via use of an intermediate codec called “AIC” or Apple Intermediate Codec. When Final Cut Pro gained HDV support with version 5.0, AIC was supplemented with “native” HDV support. As of FCP 5.03, there is still no native support for 720p24 HDV, but there is a work- around that allows use of 720p24 via AIC. This document outlines the simple work- around using Cinema Tools, an application bundled with Final Cut Pro. Due to the 24p being embedded in a 720p60 MPEG2 stream, once captured via AIC, the video plays very fast. By using the “conform” feature in Cinema Tools, we can make the video once again run at 23.98fps and hence work for 24p editing. AIC has improved it’s quality since it’s initial release and is now suitable, although not the best online codec for editing HDV non-natively. AIC capturing does not support timecode or batch capture. This is how to do it: Set up Final Cut Pro 1 Easy Preset Easy presets represent the easiest way to set up Final Cut Pro for any task. It’s best to select the easy preset before making your new project, to be sure that project conforms to the settings you’ve chosen. Plugin Solutions For Final Cut Pro - www.nattress.com - 2 Select HDV-Apple Intermediate Codec 720p30 There is no option for 720p24, but 720p30 does capture each and every 24p frame, but wrongly assigns a frame rate of either 59.94fps or 29.97fps to the captured files.

This is essential as a troubleshooting aid or when upgrading to a major new version of the software. Last updated 09/15/14 FCS Remover User Manual 2 Quick Start 1. You will be presented with the following screen upon launching the application: 2. If you wish to uninstall all components of Final Cut Studio and you have no other Apple Pro Apps such as Logic or Shake on your system, skip to Step 4. 3. If you only wish to remove certain components, use the check boxes to select and deselect them or use the Preset dropdown menu at the top of the window. Last updated 09/15/14 FCS Remover User Manual 3 The following presets are available: All – Selects all components. All Final Cut Studio / Express – This selects all Final Cut Studio / Express components and not Final Cut Server. All Final Cut Server – This selects all Final Cut Server components and not Final Cut Studio. Compressor and Qmaster Only – This selects only Compressor and Qmaster, as these are the most commonly reinstalled applications. Maximum Compatibility – This removes Final Cut Studio but does not remove Final Cut Studio components that are shared by other Apple ProApps such as Logic and Shake. This allows you to remove Final Cut Studio without harming your other ProApp installations. Receipts only – This only removes receipts. Receipts are used by the Final Cut Studio installer to keep track of what has been installed, so removing only receipts is a way of causing the installer to overwrite the original files on the disk without actually removing them.

  • Leopard 10.5.8 Latest Software
Leopard 10.5.8 latest software Here is a list of the latest software that OS X Leopard supports. If you have software that can be added, tell me in the thread and where to find it, so we can expand the list. A lot of the software is not on the mac repository sites or other sites, some download links are broken and programs or any info about them will be extremely hard to find. I have a lot of free space on my HDD and I store all this software & can send a download link whenever someone needs something (ideal solution is if we can make a file server or make a new updated PCC store). I first used a list from “The Leopard Thread”, sorted everything better (sorry if something isn't in order) and added programs that weren't there before. Also, some of the programs weren't the latest version, so I found the latest, found a serial and added it in the folder. Please, if you want to add something on the list, check if it truly is the latest version for PPC! Also, if some program is put under incorrect label or there is a better version, please tell me in the thread, i want to make it as best as possible! Green Have latest version of the software and a working serial if it needs one Blue Have latest version of the software, but no serial Red Downloaded latest version of the software, but haven’t tested it Magenta I guess that this is the latest version, but can’t find a download link anywhere Black Not downloaded or checked if it works or latest version Bold Black - made a list like this before without checking too much if the programs were latest version & these weren't on the Leopard Thread list, so i copied them & need to check again 1.

  • Digital Cinema Technologies from the Archive's Perspective
Digital Cinema Technologies from the Archive’s Perspective by Arne Nowak, Dep. Moving Picture Technologies1 Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits, Germany This is a revised version of an article which first appeared in AMIA Tech Review Volume 2, October 20102 1 Introduction During the last few years digital technologies have gained much ground in production, editing, post‐ production and exhibition of cinematographic work. This fundamental change of technologies also has had a large impact on archives. On the one hand archives have very successfully implemented digital restoration and digital distribution of films on the internet or via DVDs, as well as to digital cinemas. On the other hand archives will have to adapt and change existing procedures or introduce new processes because they will be confronted with digital material for deposit that is not bound to a carrier medium, as is the case with film or video cassettes. Instead the images and sound will come to the archives in the form of digital computer files. Digital cinema has evolved over the last few years, and even though various alternative systems and solutions are used in different parts of the world, most commercial productions in North America and Europe use a system that has its origin in the Digital Cinema Initiatives3 (DCI). DCI was a joint venture of six major American film production companies which together worked out an open specification for a digital cinema system. Many parts of this specification have been adopted by SMPTE and also transformed into standards by the international standardization organization ISO. This article is intended to give a basic introduction to the technologies and processes that are associated with the DCI / SMPTE digital cinema system.
