Welcome to Hashem’s Army. You are a member of the most powerful force in the universe.

THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF Hashem: Creator and King of the world.

THE ARMY Our army is the oldest around today. We were established in the year 2448, as in says in the : ””ʭʩʩʸʶʮ ʵʸʠʮ 'ʤ ʺʥʠʡʶ ʥʠʶʩ ʤʦʤ ʭʥʩʤ ʭʶʲʡ When Hashem took us out of Mitzrayim, He made us his army

OUR GUIDE Hashem gave us a “Book Of Orders” that we must follow. This is the Torah. Sometimes it is hard for us to understand, just like an army code.

THE GENERAL The is our General. He helps us understand the “Book Of Orders”. The Rebbe knows our role, and tells us what we must do to accomplish our mission. He explains it to us as the “order of the day”, based on the time of the year. Never before was this done for children.

THE COMMANDERS The commanders are our parents/teachers. They have to give the children the missions and explain it to them.

THE SOLDIERS Every single Yid is a soldier. The soldiers represent the Commander-in-Chief, meaning that a soldier in Hashem’s army must reflect the way Hashem wants him to behave. That way, Hashem’s name will become known in his entire community, and throughout the world. Dovid Hamelech adds that “ʭʩʬʬʥʲ ʩʴʮ” – that the words that children say and the things they do are very special to Hashem. That makes the Jewish children the “elite troops”, the ones that are fighting the toughest wars for Hashem. The elite soldiers of an army are highly respected, not just by other soldiers, but by the entire world. This

4 - MYSHLIACH ʣ”ʱʡ gives Jewish children the ability to influence their friends, parents and sib- lings.

THE MISSION The mission is conquering the world. Everyone should recognize and accept Hashem as the Commander-in-Chief and be totally committed to Hashem through everyword, action and thought. Our mission will be completed with the coming of Moshiach.

HOW IS THIS FULFILLED? Through soldiers who personify the mission of the army, by recognizing Hashem as the Commander-in-Chief, by only listening to the Yetzer Tov (what Hashem wants) and not listening to the Yetzer Hora. We are also com- mitted to get everyone in the world to recognize Hashem as their Com- mander-in-Chief and behave according to their Yetzer Tov.

THE FOUNDATION – KABOLAS OL In order for an army to run properly, the soldiers must devote themselves en- tirely to following commands. No questions asked. They must be willing to accept punishment and reprimand. Being in an army is not about you person- ally; it’s about doing what the entire army is relying on you to accomplish. The Commander-in-Chief knows what is best.

THE MOTIVATION “ʭʩʮʲʤ ʬʫʮ ʥʰʺʸʧʡ ʤʺʠ”. Being the chosen by Hashem from over six billion people to be the one of the selected few that will complete his purpose of creating - is a massive privilege. Realizing he is being entrusted with an in- credible mission, and that Hashem believes in him, a soldier fights with pas- sion and excitement.

THE RESPONSIBILITY Privileges come hand in with responsibility. Yes, it’s very exciting to be part of Hashem’s army, yet we must always remember that it is not a game. It’s seri- ous business.

OUR COMMITMENT Each and every day as soon as we wake up – we start our day recognizing that Hashem is our King and the Creator of the world. We reaffirm our love and commitment to our Commander-in-Chief every single day. We thank Hashem for trusting in us by giving us back our Neshoma so that we can serve him.

HOW THE ARMY FUNCTIONS h Campaigns Think of it as a “program”. Each campaign comes with a set of missions, and has 8 levels geared for ages 6-13. The soldier reviews each campaign, and only commits to the ones s/he’s ready and able to fulfill. Once s/he is com- fortable with the campaigns s/he chose, s/he may add more. h Missions Each week the child will receive a personalized mission sheet. The missions correspond to the campaigns that the child chose to fight. The mission sheet is made up of different types of tasks that need to be done daily, weekly or monthly.

In general, there are 3 types of missions: >> Mission Tasks: marked with a campaign icon on the left side of the mission, which indicates that this mission must be completed in order to receive a sticker towards a medal in this campaign. (Please see further instruction for how to manage your child’s binder on page12 under the “Understanding The Mission Sheet” section) >> Bonus Tasks: May be equally as important as a mission task, but does not need to be done to receive the sticker towards the medal in that cam- paign. >> Focus Tasks: marked with a focus icon on the right side of the mission. This is a task that we focus on for a month at a time, and it is based on the theme of the month, which is explained in the Hachayol Magazine. This mission gives the soldier a scratch off card worth anywhere from 1-1000 miles which then gets scanned into the soldiers kiosk. (Please see further instruction for how to use your child’s kiosk on page 22 under the “Your Child’s Kiosk” section) The back side of the scratch off card is a piece of a puzzle. Col- lect a full puzzle for a bonus card.

6 - MYSHLIACH

ʣ”ʱʡ h Stickers Your child brings back his completed mission sheet at the begin- ning of the new week. The commander reviews the mis- sions with the child and awards him/her with a campaign sticker for every completed mission task. The child places those stickers in his/her binder on the appropriate sticker board. The com- mander (parent) enters the missions into the management system (see page 19 for further instructions), and the child gets the missions and miles into his account. h Medals A set amount of completed missions earns a medal. The sticker boards help the child keep track of how many missions s/he completed and how close s/he is to earning his medal. When the sticker board is complete with stickers, he earns a medal (which will be mailed to you automatically). Every campaign has its own set of 10 medals, beginning with white and ending with black.

h Ranks A set amount of medals earns a promotion in rank. The child begins as a Pri- vate and works his/her way up to become a 5 star General. Through completing missions, a soldier earns medals and then promotions. The amount of medals needed for promotions are:

Private 3 First Lieutenant 25 General 63 Sergeant 7 Captain 33 One Star General 75

Sergeant Major 12 Major 42 Two Star General 88

Second Lieutenant 18 Colonel 53 Three Star General 102

Four Star General 117 Five Star General 133 h Extra Missions A parent may give out extra miles for good behavior, cleaning up after supper etc. The miles are given in the form of an achievement card which has a bar-code. After being scanned or typed in to the kiosk, the system will apply the miles to soldiers account (see page 22 for further instructions).

PARENT HANDBOOK - 7 ʣ”ʱʡ h Kiosk Every child has their own online kiosk account which is accessed by scanning (or typing in the numbers of) their ID card. The kiosk tells a child what rank s/ he is, how many medals s/he has, how many more missions s/he needs to earn a medal, and how many more medals s/he needs to go up in rank. It will also show how many miles have been earned, and allows the child to choose prizes in the auction and buy prizes in the store. h Store Children can use their miles to buy prizes provided by MyShli ach through their kiosk account. The commander (MyShliach staff) will receive a notification that a child bought a prize and will mail it within 3 weeks. The miles will be deducted from the child’s store balance. h Auction Children can also use their miles to choose prizes in the Chinese auction. Prizes are worth anywhere from 5-1000 miles! Every grade has more prizes available for them to choose from. Exact auction dates are TBA. The top winners are announced and then prizes are available for pick-up in the MyShliach office (or shipped if light enough). The children will also be able to view the winners on their kiosk account.

The following are a few important auction rules to remember:

>> With each new auction, weather your child chooses prizes or not, the sys- tem will automatically use ALL their miles towards random prizes and include them in the raffle. At the end of each auction - no matter how many prizes were chosen or won - your child will be left with 0 miles in his/her auction. Meaning, if your child did not use all his/her available miles in the last auc- tion, the remaining miles will NOT carry over to the next auction. Therefore, it is worth using all earned miles by each auction. >> If your child earns more than 150 miles since the last auction, s/he will be able to reuse all the miles s/he earned since the beginning of that year. Meaning, lets say s/he had 850 miles by the last auction, and earned 170

8 - MYSHLIACH ʣ”ʱʡ miles by the time the next auction came around - s/he will now have 850+170=1020 for this auction. So if your child is active, and is always making sure to fill out each weeks mission sheet - s/he will never loose points! >> In the final auction of the year your child has the opportunity to reuse all the miles from ALL previous years. That is if s/he earned more than 1200 miles throughout this year. >> If you forgot about the auction, or didn't have a chance to chose prize be- fore the cut-off date - no worries! The system will automatically include your child in raffles for random prizes - depending on his level and amount of miles. h Rally Once a month, soldiers from around the world gather together to recharge. The rallies show children that they are part of something very grand, and at the same time, shows the value of each individual. A typical rally consists of: children throughout the world saying the Pesukim, a message from the Rebbe, a Niggun, and information and exciting news about the coming month’s missions and focus tasks. The rally also fea- tures the promoted children since the last rally and the top auction winners.

h Hachayol Magazines Read updates from bases around the world, see how other soldiers have been doing, play exciting games and learn about what being a soldier in the army of Hashem really means. The Hachayol Magazine has the resources which will help you better understand the meaning for many of the missions like Mivtzoim, Cheshbon Hanefesh, Ve- holachto Bidrochov, Hiskashrus and more.

PARENT HANDBOOK - 9 ʣ”ʱʡ

PARENTS ONGOING TASKS AS YOUR CHILD’S BASE COMMANDER

As a parent, your job is to remind and encourage your child to fulfill his/her missions. For some missions, you child will need more of your involvement.

1. Printing your child’s weekly mission sheets: At the beginning of each week, print your child’s mission sheet. You can do this from your parent account at mash- pia.com. Please see further instructions in the “Print weekly mission sheets” section of this handbook. Your child keeps track of his missions by marking off a com- pleted mission on his printed mission sheet.

2. Reviewing the missions and giving out stickers: After the week is over, review the previous week’s completed mission sheet with your child and give them the correct stickers for every completed mission task. The child will then place the stickers on the ap- propriate sticker boards in their binder (and count down to their next medal). Tear out the page of stickers for that week, take off any stick- ers that were not deserved and give the page to your child. S/he will then see what is missing, and this will serve as a motivation to get the entire page the next week.

3. Reviewing the new mission sheets: When giving your child his/her new personalized mission sheet, review the sheet together and point out any special missions for that week. For exam- ple: a Yoma Depagra mission, a Mivtzoim or Shabbos Mevorchim mission. Go over each task with your child so they know exactly what needs to be done.

TIP: To save time, you could Print, Mark and Review your child’s mission sheets on the same day each week, preferably on Sundays. You would first review the previous mission sheet -> give out the stickers ->mark it in the system -> print the new mission sheet and then review it with your child.

10 - MYSHLIACH ʣ”ʱʡ 4. Help your child complete their missions: Daily x Before your child goes to sleep, review the mission sheet and have him/ her check off the completed tasks. If your child is old enough to do this on his/her own, simply give a reminder so it won’t be forgotten after a few days.

Weekly. x Teach your child a Dvar Torah based on a Sicha of the Rebbe. x Tell your child a story about the Rebbe for them to review by the Shabbos table. x Teach/sing the Niggun of the week with your children. You can play the Niggun by going on our website - myshliach.com -> Chayolei -> Resources. x Spend some time talking about the month’s theme. x Spend at least your child’s quota (see mission sheet for exact quota) to sit down and learn with your child (you can review what your child learned in school, do homework, or learn something of your choice.) x Play a video of the Rebbe for your child to watch.

Special Day x When there’s a mission for a special day, all the resources needed to complete those missions will be on our website - myshliach.com -> Chay- olei Tzivos Hashem -> Resources.

At The Shabbos Table x Ask your child to deliver the Dvar Torah they learned or ask them their Parsha questions. x Ask your child to share a story of the Rebbe. x Sing the niggun of the week

UNDERSTANDING THE MISSION SHEET AND BINDER

Using the binder and stickers is optional, yet it serves as a great motivation and incentive for kids! To make sure this doesn't become a burden for you as a parent, please make sure to carefully read through this section.

Your child’s Mission Sheet is personalized to his/her level. The missions correspond to the campaigns which your child is enrolled in (See page 20). All tasks give the child miles (points) to use in the Chinese auction and store. There are 3 types of tasks on every weeks mission sheet >> Mission Tasks: x Are marked with a campaign icon on the left side of the mis- sion. (Once you print the mission sheet, the campaign icons will all be listed on the bottom of the page, which will help you know what campaign each mission task belongs to). x Must be done in order to get the sticker towards a medal in that campaign. Daily tasks must be done at least 5 out of 7 days that week in order for the mission to be considered completed. >> Focus Task: x Is marked with a focus icon on the right side of the mission. x Is based on the theme of the month x Must be done in order to get a scratch off card (Charge Card) which is worth anywhere between 1-1000 additional miles. >> Bonus Tasks: x All other missions. x May be equally as important as a mission task, but does not need to be done to complete the mission of the campaign and get the sticker.

Your child’s Binder is divided into campaigns. Each campaign has a sticker board for each color medal - from white to black. Each sticker board has a certain amount of slots for stickers - that is the amount of com- pleted mission tasks 12 - MYSHLIACH ʣ”ʱʡ that are needed to earn that color medal of that campaign. For example: The white sticker board for the Mivtzoim campaign has 5 slots for stickers. That means that your child needs to complete the Mivtzoim Mis- sion 5 different times in order to receive the white medal in the Mivtzoim cam- paign. The white sticker board for the Tefillah campaign has 15 slots, which means 15 completed Tefilla mission tasks must be done to receive the white medal in the Tefillah Campaign. Once a sticker board is full, you could expect to get the actual medal shortly.

The Sticker Book is divided into weeks. Each page has the maximum amount of stickers that your child could earn that week.

Please use the mission sheet on page 15 as a reference for the exam- ples below. This is a sample of a mission sheet which your child hands to you at the end of the week, after marking everything s/he had completed.

Step 1 - Review the mission sheet with your child.

Step 2 - Go over the mission tasks and check which ones are completed and

deserve a sticker. >> “I said my quota of the daily ʭʩʬʩʤʺ (after Davening)” is a mission task for the Campaign. It was done only 4 times that week and therefore not considered completed. Your child will still get miles for the four completed days, but will not get the sticker for the Chitas Campaign.

>> “When I said Shema, I reminded myself that I am ready to give up my life for Hashem” is a mission task for the Cheshbon Hanefesh Campaign. It was done 6 times that week and therefore considered completed. Your child de- serves a sticker for the Cheshbon Hanefesh Campaign. Note, that this task is also a “Focus Task”. Since the task is completed - your child should also get a scratch off card (charge card) to scan into his/her ki- osk.

PARENT HANDBOOK - 13 ʣ”ʱʡ >> There are 3 Mivtzoim mis- sions for the month of Teves, only 1 of them being a mission task for the Mivtzoim Campaign- “For Bayis Malei Sefarim, I bought a new Sefer in honor of Hey Teves”. That mission was done and therefore considered completed. You child deserves a sticker for the Mivtzoim Campaign.

>> There are 3 Yoma Depagra missions for Asara Beteves, only 1 of them being a mission task for the Yoma Depagra Campaign - “I told or listened to what happened on Asara Bete- ves 3336”. Although the bonus tasks for this day were completed, the mission task was not. Therefore, your child will earn points for the other 2 missions, but not the sticker for the Yoma Depagra mission.

And so on.

Once you are done reviewing the mission sheet with your child, open the sticker book to the current week and give your child the stickers s/he earned. Based on the mission sheet on page 15 your child should get: x Cheshbon Hanefesh sticker x Avos Ubonim sticker x Veholachto Bidrochov sticker x Hiskashrus sticker x Mivtzoim sticker x Tefillah sticker x Scratch off card for the Focus Task (which is scanned into the kiosk).

Your child should not get: x Chitas sticker x Yoma Depagra sticker

For ALL completed tasks you child also gets miles.

Please note that the image on page 15 is not showing the full mission sheet for that week.

14 - MYSHLIACH ʣ”ʱʡ SAMPLE MISSION SHEET

PARENT HANDBOOK - 15 ʣ”ʱʡ Step 3 - Your child puts the stickers in the binder, each sticker on the matching campaign sticker board. S/he now sees how much closer s/he is to earning the next medal in each one of the campaigns.

Step 4 - Mark it in the system! This step is important, since only by marking the mission sheet in the system will your child have points in his/her kiosk account which could then be used in the store and Chinese auction. That is also the only way we could know that your child completed his/her missions, and how close s/he is to earning his/her next medal. For every task that your child completed, s/he earns a certain amount of miles.

Mission Sheet - Yoma Depagra Weeks On a regular week, your child should only be able to get one sticker for each campaign. Yet at some times during the year, s/he might be able to get a few stickers in one campaign on the same week. That usually happens on the weeks that are full with Yoma Depagras, like the whole month of Tishrey, Chanuka, Pesach etc. Please use the mission sheet on page 17 as a reference for the exam- ples below. This is a mission sheet for the first week of Sukkos. There are 4 days of Yoma Depagra for this week. Each one of the days have a certain amount of tasks that need to be completed, with some or all of them being marked as a mission task. x Yud Gimel Tishrey - 3 tasks, 2 of them mission tasks. x First Day of Sukkos - 7 tasks, all of them mission tasks. x Second Day of Sukkos - 6 tasks, 5 of them mission tasks. x First Day of Chol Hamoed - 5 tasks, 4 of them mission tasks. At the end of the week your child could earn 1 Yoma Depagra sticker for each day only if s/he completed ALL the MISSION TASKS for that day.

Based on the mission sheet on page 17, the Yoma Depagra stickers that your child should get are: x Yud Gimel Tishrey - since both mission tasks were completed. x First Day of Sukkos - since all 7 mission tasks were completed. x Second Day of Sukkos - since all 5 mission tasks were completed Your child will not get: x Chol Hamoed - since one of the mission tasks were not completed.
