Voice of Tooele County since 1894 Our View Share Christmas spirit With wars and natural disasters adding profound calamity to our lives this year, it’s easy to underestimate the humanity and drama of our neighbors right here in town. Hard times are not confined to Iraq or Louisiana. We haven’t received as many nominations to our Christmas Benefit Fund this year as last and we invite the public to take another look at those in your immediate surroundings who may be in need of help. Sports Editor Nick Drake is ready to put on his Santa beard and bring Christmas cheer. Our departments have combined forces to fundraise through luncheons and bake sales. Now, we need your support. The Christmas Benefit Fund needs nominations by Sunday, Nov. 27. Everyday heroes exist all around us, and profound suffering isn’t hard to come by either. The Transcript-Bulletin would like to elevate the human condition by aiding heroism or offsetting suffering to members of our community. Churches and government agencies are good at providing the basics of food, water and shelter, but our Christmas Benefit Fund aims to meet unique needs. During the holidays, everyone deserves to celebrate but frequently many don’t have the financial support to achieve more than survival. We donate thousands of dollars annually to a person or family who could use the community’s help. Nominations ought to include the details regarding who is being nomi- nated and how we can help. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Nominations should be submitted by mail, Tooele Transcript-Bulletin, 58 N. Main St., Tooele UT 84074 or sent by e-mail to: jmcall@tooeletranscript. com. who break the law will get a ticket.
