III. OUTREACH INITIATIVES The following outreach initiatives were completed by the SEU during the reporting period:

A. Job Banks and Internet Programs:

The employment unit participated in job banks and internet programs designed to provide general information about opportunities in broadcasting and to encourage women and minorities to consider future employment in broadcasting. In addition, all job openings have been posted on web sites to ensure broad internet recruitment. In the reporting period, the following web sites have been used:

B. Job Fairs:

During this reporting period, the station employment unit participated in the job fairs listed below. The employment unit provided handouts, job postings and employment applications and advised potential candidates with information to access company websites and submit their resume and/or application. In addition, the SEU advertised these job fairs on their radio stations and websites to promote wide participation.

1. On October 10, 2019, the SEU’s General Sales Manager participated in the Choice Career Fair in Seattle, WA.

C. Job Fair Host:

1. On October 24, 2019, Salem Media Group and Radio Luz 1680AM hosted a Multi-Cultural Job Fair. Event was held at the Burien Community Center in Burien, WA. The job fair was created to be an interactive, warm and inviting opportunity to personally connect 20 companies with our listeners in a unique way to inform and educate our Latino community about the businesses attending and the positions they had available. The SEU provided radio and website advertising to promote the event and a meet and greet for all booth sponsors prior to the event where they got the opportunity to meet the Salem Media Staff, Radio Luiz On-Air personalities and the Mayor of Burien. Radio Luz was able to attract 255 job seekers to the event.

D. Job Fair Co-Sponsor:

During this reporting period, the station employment unit was a co-sponsor for the Diversity City Career fair on two occasions

The SEU provided handouts, job postings and employment applications and advised potential candidates with information to access company websites and submit their resume and/or application. In addition, the SEU advertised these job fairs on their radio stations and websites to promote wide participation.

1. On January 22, 2020, the SEU’s Business Manager participated in the Diversity City Career Fair in Seattle, WA.

2. On July 23, 2020, the SEU’s General Sales Manager and GM participated in the Virtual Diversity City Career Fair

E. Participation in activities sponsored by community groups to inform the public of broadcast employment opportunities:

1. On October 15, 2019, the SEU’s General Sales Manager participated in the Kent Chamber of Commerce Business Expo in Kent, WA. This event is designed to showcase the importance of local companies, non-profit companies and cultural organizations and bring them together with the local community. The event opens doors and creates opportunities for everyone in the community to learn about what their local businesses can offer them. The employment unit presented a booth with Inspiration Media, Inc staff present, educating job seekers about the company by providing handouts, job postings and overviews.

F. Management EEO Training:

1. The Salem Director of Human Resources conducts monthly HR Network Training Sessions via teleconference and Power Point presentations, which includes review of EEO policies and compliance. The SEU’s Business Manager participates in these training sessions each month and then routinely communicates with the SEU’s General Manager and other management team members to keep all employees apprised of the company and SEU’s policy on equal employment.
