Redditch is delighted to host the #OVOTourSeries for an eight consecutive year and this year, we are thrilled to be the first round for both the ladies Grand Prix and the Men’s Tour Series Race. To celebrate, we are hosting a special Inaugural Inter-Services Championship – which will see Men’s and Women’s Teams from our serving Army, Royal Navy and RAF taking to the streets to compete. This is the first time these teams have ever competed in a closed track race so we are hoping you come out and cheer them on. The action starts at 2:40pm. This year we have two Sustainable Travel Partners helping you get to the event, with WM Railway providing a regular service from the surrounding areas to the Redditch Station, and Diamond Busses offering free travel to get you home this evening on routes 51, 57 and 58. Once again we are very pleased to have the Kingfisher Shopping Centre as a key partner in the Tour and we would like to welcome and thank Stofords Property Solutions for coming on board as our headline sponsor for 2019. Don’t forget you can meet your Cycling heroes in the bandstand between 16.00 - 16.30pm for an autograph session and our amazing pro races start at 5:30pm from Church Green East. Finally, we would just like to say that the Redditch event is made even more special by the number of people that get involved to help, from the schools who help us open the event, to Redditch Road and Path Cycling Club, to all of the exhibitors who will be found all around the Church Green area – as well as those who work tirelessly behind the scenes to make the event happen. So we would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their hard work and support. We hope that you enjoy watching some spectacular cycling in Worcestershire. Local girl Beth Crumpton needs little introduction - racing for 13 years she has competed Internationally in Mountain Bike, Road and CycloCross, representing GBR in all 3 disciplines at some point throughout her career – and it all started here in Redditch. We caught up with Beth who has now signed for Tarteletto-Isorex, ahead of the Tour to get her top tips and see who she will be cheering on come race day: How did you get into Cycling? My dad was a cyclist and inspired me to give it a go, I attended the local cycling club (Redditch R&P CC) starting at grass root level, I enjoyed it and wanted to keep it up, so I started racing and from there it never really stopped. Who is your cycling hero? My cycling hero is Marianne Vos, she’s a champion & rides with so much passion. What do you think of the Redditch track? Are you gutted to not be Racing it this year? Yeah I am gutted not to be racing on home turf, it’s always cool to race in front of a home crowd but with my new team and new goals I’ll be happy to spectate and enjoy the racing. The circuit meets all aspects of physical, mental and technical challenges, there isn’t much flat terrain in the track, it’s either downhill or dragging uphill with a good punch up Unicorn Hill. It provides a great platform for a great night of racing! Who will you be cheering on? I’ll be cheering for a lot of my past team-mates and friends who are racing in the series this year, I always enjoy watching my friends race because I know how much work they put into achieve their results. Whats next for you? Where can we see you next? I’m fully focussed on my next winter season which will start in September, I’ve signed for a Belgian Cyclocross team Tarteletto-Isorex, where I will focus more on the European calendar.
