The inhabitants of Sundarban are primarily involved in agriculture (monocropping due to increased salinity), aquaculture and collection of non timber forest products and thus do not enjoy adequate income. An ill effect of globalization, trafficking means the trade of humans for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation of the victim. It is now dominated by organized traffickers who lure young girls by making fake promises of love, marriage and lucrative job offers. Kultali and Joynagar of Indian Sundarban are highly vulnerable to hazards due to their close proximity to river Matla to the east and Bay of Bengal to the south. For this paper, data of women trafficking was collected from police department.
