2010  Made his fi rst career Opening day roster for the Astros and began the campaign as the fi fth starter.  Allowed just 4 home runs in 91.2 innings, averaging 0.39 home runs per 9.0 innings, which ranked eighth-best among all Major League hurlers with at least 75.0 innings.  Made 14 starts to open the season before being placed on the Disabled List on June 21 with right shoulder tendinitis... missed nearly three months before being reinstated on September 12 and making his fi nal 5 appearances of the season in relief.  Despite a 1-8 record in his 14 starts, posted a solid 4.40 ERA, allowing just 2 home runs in 86.0 innings...dropped his only decision and posted a 15.88 ERA in fi ve relief appearances.  Went a career-high 8.0 innings in three straight starts from May 30 to June 9 becoming the fi rst Astros hurler since (2008) with three consecutive 8.0-plus inning starts.  Equaled a club record by dropping his fi rst 7 decisions despite a 4.40 ERA in fi rst 10 starts...earned his lone win of the campaign on June 4 vs. (NL), allowing 1 in 8.0 innings in a 3-1 win.

Career Notes  Among who have made at least 15 starts at Houston’s , his average of 8.73 per 9.0 innings (123.2 IP, 120 SO) ranked second to Bud Norris entering 2011.  Since he made his debut in 2007, his 2.94 runs of support average per 9.0 innings entering 2011 is the lowest in all of among active pitchers with 200 or more innings and at least one start.  After missing the entire 2008 campaign with the exception of 1 rehab appearance due to a pinched nerve in his right arm, returned in 2009 to strike out 93 in 97.2 innings over 23 games (17 starts)...the 93 strikeouts were the most by an Astros rookie since 2003 when Brad Lidge struck out 97 and Jeriome Robertson struck out 99.  Was just 3-11 during his 2009 campaign, but lost 4 starts in a 6-start stretch from August 23-September 20 when the Astros failed to plate a run for him while he was in the game...the 6-start stretch with no runs scored covering 29.1 innings was the longest for a pitcher who made at least 6 starts since Cleveland’s Mike Paul (33.0 innings) in 1969 (Elias Sports Bureau).  His 93 strikeouts in 2009 were fi fth in the N.L. among rookies.  Made his Major League debut on September 5, 2007 at Milwaukee in a relief appearance.  From 2006-08, rated as having the “Best Fastball” among all Astros prospects by .  Originally signed by Houston out of the club’s Venezuelan Academy as a shortstop.

2010  Acquired in a late-March trade from the Brewers to the Rangers, he led the A.L. champions in games caught with 81.  Also posted career highs in games, at bats, runs, hits, home runs, RBI and walks.  Rangers pitchers posted a 3.92 ERA with Treanor behind the plate, the fourth-lowest of any A.L. catcher with at least 80 games...the club went 52-29 (.642) in his games and just 38-43 (.469) in the other 81 contests.  Missed a month of action after being placed on the 15-day D.L. on July 24 with a strained posterior collateral ligament in his right knee...was activated on August 23 after the Rangers were 12-14 in the 26 games he missed... appeared in 5 games for Oklahoma City on a rehab assignment.  Appeared in the postseason for the Rangers and was 2-for-10 at the plate...caught all of C.J. Wilson’s 4 postseason starts...drove in both Texas runs in ALCS Game 5 in New York, recording a solo off CC Sabathia and an RBI groundout.

Career Notes  Entered 2009 as Detroit’s backup catcher but played in only 4 games before undergoing season-ending surgery on April 30 to repair a torn labrum and impingement in his right hip by Dr. Bryan Kelly.  Threw out 41.9 percent (13-for-31) of attempted basestealers in 2006 for Florida, the third-best percentage in baseball (min. 30 attempts).  Had his contract purchased by Florida on June 2, 2004 and made his Major League debut that afternoon vs. Cincinnati as the starting catcher.  Led all Pacifi c Coast League in 2003 with 602 putouts.  Was tabbed the “Best Defensive Catcher” in the Carolina League in 1997 by Baseball America.  Originally a Royals’ draft pick, Treanor played for three full seasons and parts of 1997 in the Kansas City organization before being traded to the Florida Marlins on July 29, 1997.

Miscellaneous Notes  Matthew Aaron Treanor and his wife, Misty May-Treanor reside in Coral Springs, Fla.  His wife, Misty, is a two-time gold medalist in beach volleyball, taking home the gold with teammate Kerri Walsh at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, and the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China... she is currently training for the 2012 Games in London.  Matt graduated from Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, Calif. in 1994...was named a Second-Team All-America as a senior.
