  • Dec. 1981 WAVA-6
The WORLD Association of NEWSLETTER 6 DECEMBER 1981 THE PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE llere we are again even if we have once again run over our ~ublication deadline. We'll have to put on some speed over Christmas and catch up next time. Even though the 1981 World Championships were held right at the begin- ning of the year Veteran Track and Field has been anything but subdued. News from all parts of the World indicate wider and wider participation, building on the sustained interests of the pioneers who are still competing with their original enthusiasm after more than 10 years Veteran activi.ty. Thanks to the efforgs of Helen Pain (USA) in promtfnq a tour to the Republic of China and of Clem Green (N.Z.) for spreadino the gospel in the South Seas, we will, no doubt, see even more new faces in Puerto Rico in 1983. I spent a few pleasant days with Roberto Santba, the Diwctor of Recreation for San Juan who visited me, full of enthusiasm for the big task at hand. He pledges that everyone who comes to Puerto Rico in 1983 will enjoy it inim?nsely, athletically and as a visitor. There is much to see and do in this island in the sun. On the subject of the 5th World Veteran Championships we would like to remind you that presentations will be made and decisions reached on the venue not only for the 6th Championships (1985) but also the 7th (1987). This will then leave us in the position of being able to plan 4 years ahead always.

WOMEN IN FISTBALL – WORLD GAMES – WORLD TOUR FINAL Annual Report 2018 by the IFA President ANNUAL REPORT 2018 BY THE IFA PRESIDENT WOMEN IN FISTBALL – WORLD GAMES – WORLD TOUR FINAL Introduction: “Fistball is a growing and dynamic sport that appeals to the youth”, stated IOC Sports Director Kit McConnell at the end of 2017. This not only continues to be true but was once again perfectly proved in 2018. Looking back to 2018 this was a successful year with the highlights of the IFA 2018 Fistball Women´s World Championship in Linz, the IFA 2018 Fistball U18 World Championships in USA, the inaugural IFA Fistball World Tour Finals in Vaihingen/Enz, the European Men´s Championship in Adelmannsfelden, the Pan-American Fistball Championships in Buenos Aires and the Asian-Pacific Fistball Championships in Melbourne. In 2018 IFA again strengthened its position within the sports family. You may ask yourselves which 5 ar- guments underline the development of Fistball during the last years the best: - Media potential e.g. TV production @ all events; own IFA OTT platform; best broadcasted sport of The World Games; strong Social Media activities, monitored media value - World Class Events e.g. sports presentation; LED boards; modern sports infrastructure - Global Growth e.g. from 16 (2000) to 58 countries (2018) - Women e.g. up to 60 % of the board members are women; inaugural women´s event at The World Games 2021 - Teaming up e.g. with other International Federations for Sustainability, Anti-Doping, Ethics and governance, Para-Sport activities for disabled athletes This report briefly outlines the major developments and improvements made in 2018 with regards to the Strategic Plan 2016 – 2019 of the International Fistball Association (IFA), which was approved in January 2016 by the IFA Board of Directors.

  • The IFA 2019-2023 Strategic Plan Can Be Found Here
IFA Strategic Plan 2019 – 2023 update I. Introduction & Background The International Fistball Association (IFA) Board of Directors for the period 2019-2023 was elected at the General Assembly in Winterthur, Switzerland, on 14 August 2019. This Strategic Plan serves not only as manifesto of the new IFA leadership for the upcoming period of four years but also as a guideline for the administrative work and day-to-day business manage- ment of the IFA executed by its volunteers and staff members. The plan outlines the common strategic aims of the IFA Board of Directors. It manages IFA policies reflecting and acknowledging the changes of international principles of sport governance as set out by the Olympic Agenda 2020+5 and the Basic Principles of Good Gov- ernance as well as the Olympic Charter, the key framework of the Olympic Movement established by the International Olympic Committee. IFA is continuously committed to executing the key princi- ples of this framework in its governance structures as an International Sport Federation (IF) and its day-to-day management. This approach taken by IFA is to contribute to the fulfilment of require- ments for the recognition of IFA by the IOC as recognised IF, which is expected to happen during the four-year period of this strategic plan. The Strategic Plan is the tool for IFA allowing a permanent evaluation of the IFA governance in the future. The IFA membership has continuously grown to 67 member federations in the last years and a to- tal number of over 65.000 players registered by these national federations as of April 2021.
