Two Big Heavyweight Bouts Added to NBC Sports Network Fight Night's Blockbuster Judah-Paris Show Two Big Heavyweight Bouts Added to NBC Sports Network Fight Night's Blockbuster Judah-Paris Show The White Wolf, Sergei Liakhovich will take on Philadelphia's hot Bryant Jennings in a 10-round co-feature, while heavyweight Tomasz Adamek makes his first ring appearance since facing Heavyweight King Vitali Klitschko on Saturday, March 24th when the NBC Sports Network's "Fight Night" boxing series comes to Brooklyn's Aviator Sports Complex. In the main event of the evening, Brooklyn's Zab Judah takes on unbeaten Junior Welterweight Vernon Paris in a mandated fight for the #1 position in the IBF. Jennings, 12-0, 5 KO's, who made an enormous hit with the NBC Sports Network audience, last month, when he stepped into the main event on just five days' notice on the inaugural "Fight Night" broadcast and captured the Pennsylvania Heavyweight Title in an exciting 12-round brawl with Maurice Byarm, will face one of the big men who he replaced that night. Liakhovich, 25-4, 16 KO's, caught a tough break just a few days earlier when no suitable opponent could be found to replace top contender Eddie Chambers on short notice when he suffered two broken ribs in sparring and had to withdraw. Always ready to do battle in the ring, Liakhovich was anxious to get back on the fight calendar as soon as possible. Liakhovich, "I am glad to be fighting on NBC Sports Network. I look forward to my fight with Jennings. I like fighting guys who appreciate a challenge like me. I am in great shape and can't wait to get back in the ring." Russell Peltz of Peltz Boxing said that Jennings was eager to get back in the ring, "We feel we should strike while the iron is hot. Why go backwards after the win over Byarm?" A former World Light Heavyweight, Cruiserweight and IBF International Heavyweight champion, Adamek, 44-2, 28 KO's, is equally anxious to begin his climb back up to the top of the heavyweight rankings with his first ever appearance in Brooklyn. A suitable opponent is being sought and his name will be released shortly. "This show is shaping up to be quite extraordinary," promoter Kathy Duva said. "There will be excitement from start to finish and I'm sure that every boxing fan who can't get a ticket won't want to miss the broadcast on the NBC Sports Network." Gary Quinn, Sr. Director of Programming & Acquisitions NBC Sports Group added, "We are pleased with the high caliber of the March 24th card from top to bottom. We are building on the positive momentum we established with our January 21 show. Fans will be able to tune in for another fantastic night of boxing March 24th on NBC Sports Network Fight Night." Tickets to the blockbuster triple-header, priced at $200, $100 and $75 and may be purchased by calling Peltz Boxing, (215) 765-0922, or online through www.peltzboxing.com. Born and raised in Manchester, Fury weighed just 1lb at birth after being born three months premature. His father John named him after Mike Tyson. From Irish traveller heritage, the“Gypsy King” is undefeated in 28 professional fights, winning 27 with 19 knockouts, and drawing once. His most famous victory came in 2015, when he stunned longtime champion Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles. He was forced to vacate the belts because of issues with drugs, alcohol and mental health, and did not fight again for more than two years. Most thought he was done with boxing forever. Until an amazing comeback fight with Deontay Wilder in December 2018. It was an instant classic, ending in a split decision tie. Outside of the ring, Tyson Fury is a mental health ambassador. He donated his million dollar purse from the Deontay Wilder fight to the homeless. This book is dedicated to the cause of mental health awareness.

At 31 he has been in with some of the leading names in the heavyweight division including IBF, WBA and WBO world champion Wladimir Klitschko, as well as going the distance with Alexander Povetkin and Tomasz Adamek. He now joins the stable of rising heavyweight sensations Tyson Fury and Hughie Fury, who have made huge strides in recent times under the tutelage of Peter Fury. After falling just short of world title glory, Chambers, a former cruiserweight, is now aiming to go one step further by capturing such honour at heavyweight with Team Fury. Eddie Chambers, said: “I am happy to be part of Team Fury Promotions. Being with Peter Fury and part of Team Fury is going to take me to the level Peter knows I’m capable of. They have the right resources and boxing knowledge that I feel has been missing in my career so far. I’ve had some great trainers in the past, however, I think with Peter’s great knowledge in the ring and also his business knowledge out of the ring, it gives me the confidence and inspiration I need to believe us as a team can do big things. I can’t wait to fight in the UK for all the boxing fans there.

prezentuje 2009 BOXING NIGHT Walka wieczoru: Andrzej Tomasz vs GOŁOTA ADAMEK 2009 prezentuje BOXING NIGHT 2009 PORTFEL.PL wspiera najlepszych BOXING NIGHT „Polska walka stulecia” – do takiej właśnie rangi urósł pojedynek między ikoną polskiego boksu zawodowego, Andrzejem „Andrew” Gołotą, a aktualnym Mistrzem Świata Federacji IBF, Tomaszem „Góralem” SPONSORGALI BOKSU Adamkiem.

MICHAŁ KACZMARCZYK New strategy of “Nowy Dziennik” KEY WORDS Polish community press, emigration, local matters in the media, management of editorial office, Polish community abroad, Poles in New York ABSTRACT “Nowy Dziennik” is the largest Polish community journal on the East coast of the United States. The daily, first published in 1971, has been noting a systematic drop in sales, which, among other things, is related to Poland’s accession into EU, changes in the direction of Poles’ emigration, and, in consequence, a reduced number of Polish citizens arriving and permanently residing in the territory of the US. This article attempts to characterize the strategies underlying the changes introduced to “Nowy Dziennik” by the new Management Board of Bicentennial Publishing, the publisher, appointed in 2008. These changes (such as a shift towards local matters, refreshed brand image on the Internet, reinforcement of the role of the daily as an organiser) are intended to stabilise the market position of the newspaper and enable it to sustain its position as one of key Polish community public institutions in the USA. New York is the second largest, after Chicago, Polish press publishing centre in the US. In the city, there are several dozen various Polish community organizations and a dozen or so Polish parishes, most of them printing their own periodicals1. The largest papers, with most universal (general) profile and most professional in character are “Kurier Plus” and “Nowy Dziennik” (“ND”). In the nearby New Jersey, published is “2Tygodnik Polonijny”, distributed in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. “Kurier Polski” is edited in Greenpoint, the largest Polish neighborhood on the East coast.

The conference was hosted by promoter Kathy Duva, CEO Main Events, and included the fighters and teams involved in the heavyweight double header. In the 12-round main event, Tomasz Adamek, 47-2, 29 KOs, faces Steve Cunningham, 25-4, 12 KOs, in a highly anticipated rematch of their classic first encounter in 2008. Adamek won that fight by close split decision. In the 8-round co-feature, Vyacheslav "Czar" Glazkov, 13-0, 9 KOs, takes on Tor Hamer, 19-1, 12 KOs, in a battle of rising prospects. KATHY DUVA (CEO, Main Events): "Welcome everyone to "Bigger, Better, Stronger" at the Sands Hotel and Casino, here in beautiful Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. And what better place to be than Bethlehem over Christmas weekend. There are two heavyweight fights on this card, and they'll both tremendous. We've seen one of them before, so we know what to expect, and the other one is going to be a nice little Christmas surprise I think. I know that everyone up here is determined, they're heavyweights, they're bound to throw punches, and when you have a combination like that and as much at stake as we have here, you get fireworks.

  • Michael Grant, Stand In, Vs. Tomasz Adamek at Newark's Prudential
Michael Grant, Stand In, Vs. Tomasz Adamek at Newark’s Prudential Center A one-time Next Big Thing in professional boxing, Michael Grant has been to the top of the hill, but only to look. His stay wasn’t long, and he did not descend as its king. Instead, like Jack in the nursery rhyme, he tumbled down—repeatedly— at the point of Lennox Lewis’ right hand. Canvassed three times in the first round, he failed to rise by the count of 10 in the second. That championship bout, all two rounds of it, took place in April, 2000. In fights to follow, Grant (46-3, 34 KOs) was knocked down and out by both Jameel McCline and the once promising Dominic Guinn. At 6’ 7” Michael Grant has a long way to fall. Against McCline he broke his ankle on the way down (first round, very first punch). Against Guinn he was knocked down four times in 7 rounds, the last from a clean left hook that landed Grant almost motionless in a big hulking mass on the floor. He tasted canvas nine times in a total of 10 rounds in these three losses. He is now 37 years old. A gifted athlete, Grant played football prior to boxing. But football is not boxing. And given the helmets, a propensity to fall when punched in the head does not pose a particular hindrance to a football player. For a boxer, it is fatal. Michael Anthony Grant has an Achilles Chin. Training can’t change that. But power and hope are the last things to go on a heavyweight, and there is no reason to believe that he does not have a puncher’s chance.
