Dear Iain,

Since has now ended and Jorah’s fate revealed some weeks ago, Ser Jorahs Army has had a huge influx of thousands of new fans joining SJA and we have been literally inundated with messages on all social media platforms and emails regarding your performance as Jorah and his final performance on the show. As you know I put together a fanbook for you back in 2015, and as you are not on social media, we really wanted you to be able to read all the wonderful comments that viewers have been making since the beginning of the final series.

So GoT did not end the way we wanted it to. Jorah and Daenerys flying off on Drogon and living happily ever after was always going to be a big ask! Lol It’s been such an emotional rollercoaster for us fans these last 6 weeks so it must have been an awfully emotional time for you filming your last few episodes. We are of course totally heartbroken by Jorah’s death which has had a big impact on us all. We have experienced such a mixture of emotions in Jorah’s last scene. It was so beautifully performed by you and Emilia. I doubt any character will ever hold such a place in our hearts and we all appreciate the hard work and dedication you put into the show. You made Jorah come to life in a way that no other could. He was simply the best!

When I saw you back in March you said not to worry about Jorah and that it would all work out in the end and I guess it did in a way. Jorah died protecting his queen which is the only way he could go. We wonder what Jorah would have thought about his queen taking the direction she did which resulted in her death? We would love to know if you have been able to see the final episode of the show. How did you feel when you found out that Daenerys was to die by Jon’s hand?

SJA is not just a group of fans, we are a huge global family and our friendship extends to more than just supporting you as an actor. It’s connected by so many thousands of us from across the world who have now become such amazing friends for life. Next month (on your birthday) marks 10 years since the IainGlenFans.org website was first online and its come such a long way since then.

Looking forward SJA will remain your biggest supporter and we can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in the future. Here we stand, all of us together!

Lots of love,

Sarah & Ser Jorah’s Army xxx

Loved your character so very much! You brought a depth of feeling and a nobility that lifted him from the pages/screen and made him the best of the best. The North Remembers.

I am so glad to have the opportunity to tell you how highly I regard you as an actor. I have never seen you in TV or movies that your performance hasn’t moved me in some way. I’m sure you know that you are beloved in the UK, but I want you to know that in the US, where your work isn’t as well know, you do have some super fans like me!

Your portrayal of Jorah added so many subtle traits to the character that made it a standout. There are many actors who had a lot more attention and screen time, but Jorah was by far my favourite from the first episode. Long after Game of Thrones is over I will remember scenes where Jorah’s sincerity moved me to tears. I believe Jorah had the purest, most selfless heart of any one on the show.

In closing, I want to wish you all the best in your personal life and in your craft. I look forward to seeing your next project!

I cried my eyes out tonight when I saw Thrones, even though I knew it was coming.

Iain Glen is just the epitome of honour and bravery here - he's an amazing actor and just so genuinely believable. I totally buy into every character he plays... I loved Jack Taylor too and can't wait to see him in more and more roles. Thanks,

. ______sJA ______

Hi Sarah

Thank you for having the fan group for Iain, it has been a pleasure to share the atmosphere together with you all. Our beloved character died honourably and there was no better exit than this, to fall gallantly.

Your performance as Jorah in Game of Thrones has been of excellence. Acting a persona who seeks redemption after being broken by false love that ruined him entirely of his and freedom. I understood this better than most of all the other characters. You did much better than the book and as you did in the movie Mountains of the moon. I watched it 27 years ago in the national TV in Iceland and we had it on video tape. It was a favourite in my teenage years because I admired explorers. I didn't realize it was you who played Speke till last year when I watched the old video cassette, never forgot the agony you portrayed in Speke's face when Burton was going to face the dispute over Lake Victoria, and when Speke took his own life. I will watch your work , you are my favourite actor there for real, I was on the toes for almost all the series regarding your character after 5th season. Thank you Iain.

______sJA ______

Iain,

I only started watching Game of Thrones within the last 8 months and I binge watched the series every for a few months. I was going through a rough divorce at the time and lost faith in love. Didn’t trust men either but Ser Jorah made me believe in decent men and the power of love.

It takes a very talented actor to be able to portray a character so believable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart... Ser rescued this maiden too and made me believe in love again.

______sJA ______

Just a short note to let you know I have been a HUGE fan ever since I saw you in the film, “Song For A Raggy Boy”. I believe your performance in that film was one of the best acting I’d ever seen. It was definitely Oscar-worthy. Since that movie you have become my favorite actor. I have seen many different projects since then, and I must say, your performances have never disappointed. You are amazing!

I love your most current projects especially Game of Thrones. Ser Jorah Mormont of Bear Island will ALWAYS be my favorite character of all time. Even though he is now dead, he will always live in my heart as the loyal and noble knight who loved his queen. I look forward to your newest project, Bruce Wayne in Titans. You are the perfect choice to play .

In 2011 I created a blog dedicated to you. It’s called: Iain Glen – A Man of Many Talents. I hope you can visit at your convenience and I hope you enjoy it. Here is the url: http://favor757.tumblr.com/

Anyway, I just wanted to say “hello” and to let you know you are much loved. Blessings to you and your beautiful family.

______sJA ______

Sarah,

Thanks so much for organising this! It is so appreciated!

Here is my message for Iain:

I just want to say thank you for all the joy you’ve brought me as an actor for the last 8 years! From when I first read the ‘’ books Jorah was one of my favourite characters but you played him so well he became my favourite in the show! The chemistry between Jorah and Dani was always electric and even though they could never be together you always hoped they would end up riding dragons and ruling the seven kingdoms together. I was gutted that they chose to kill off Jorah but what a glorious scene it was, your swordsmanship is so impressive and it certainly led to the most moving and heart breaking moment in the show.

Thanks again for being so awesome and I can’t wait to see what projects you will take on in the future!

Hello, my name is Diana, 34, I’m a big fan of Jorah Mormont our Bear from Bear Island, here from Slovakia-Europe. I want to write to you to tell you that you made an amazing job on this character. There is so much pain, love and other feelings in your character that it is difficult to be explained in words. Jorah deserved a happy ending. I just want to tell you, you are amazing you have so much followers and lovers of this character as you and other characters you play. Keep going, you deserve an Emmy or Oscar as well, i will watch your other movies and I wish you a very nice life. Lots of luck in Batman. I wish you lots of energy, good health and lots of love .

Hello Iain!

Thank you for your amazing performance in Game of Thrones! I just started watching Jack Taylor and am even more in LOVE! You are absolutely adorable and possess pure talent.

You also completely remind me of my husband which is why I feel in love with you from the moment I saw you in Season 1 (I started GOT last year)! The fact you are both the same age, still wear old clothes (like that light blue button down with flowers that you seem to favour), you seem so soothing and calming on screen and can only imagines that is truly your nature, your expression lines, that sexy voice yet a man of few words onscreen, etc. The way you throw out a look at people on screen like you think they are absolutely crazy is exactly what I get at home!

If you are ever in need of a yoga instructor to help you prepare for a role - I'll be right over the pond! Best of luck to you in all that you do!

______sJA ______

Thank you for the emotions you give me with your interpretations. Thanks for existing, you're great. Kisses from Naples. With love

______sJA ______

Greetings from the Philippines, Iain!

Just want to say that I am very grateful for you taking on Jorah Mormont’s role and giving it so much life. I’ve loved this character for so long, as many have, and it is really hard to let him go, even though his fate in the show was something apt. Sharing love for the character (from both the books and the show) online has sparked friendships, created artworks, fanfiction, gifs, and formed bonds that I will always cherish. Seeing a similar, but also drastically different with the circumstances, bond between the Game of Thrones cast and crew, especially between you and your best mate Emilia Clarke, continue to warm our hearts and make us want to cheer for you all for a lifetime.

It is kind of weird defending Jorah to my friends and acquaintances when he receives some backlash, but then seeing you back him and defend him in interviews as well as showing an understanding of his flaws and passions makes me want to throw my fist into the air in celebration and in support. Your portrayal of him is one to stay in the hearts of many, many fans. Thank you from the deepest recesses of my heart.

I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future for you give so much soul to the characters that you play, no matter how little the part, and no matter what genre. Small Engine Repair remains a good one, while I cannot wait for more Jack Taylor episodes. It’s particularly fun to see you do comedy as you rarely have those but you’ve got a knack for it. See you around on screen, dearest sir. Much love from the fans!

To the talented and handsome Iain Glen: Your nuanced portrayal of Ser Jorah Mormont has forever cemented him as one of my favourite characters of all time. The amount of emotion you are able to convey even in silence is staggering and compelling; the way Jorah looks at Dany with absolute devotion and longing completely destroys me. I am so grateful that Ser Jorah made it all the way to the final season, and that you had as much screen time as you did. His character arc of redemption was beautifully served by your representation, and his undying dedication to Daenerys is truly inspiring. Thank you for delivering a truly unforgettable character who will live on in the hearts of your fans forever. Sincerely,

______sJA ______

I have been a big fan or your character, Jorah Mormont since the beginning of the Game of Thrones series. I will miss the valiant warrior, the gentle lover, and loyal advisor and friend which you have portrayed so brilliantly. Onward with your journey, Sir Jorah Mormont! And thank you, Iain for the many years of hard work and talent with which you have graces us! I look forward to journeying into other adventures with you.❤

______sJA ______

Dear Iain Glen,

Congratulations to the wonderful work in Game of Thrones. I admire Jorah's loyalty, love and strength and the sensitive way that you portrayed him. I would also like to mention the beautiful partnership with Emilia Clarke. Chemistry can be seen in the eyes, and although I have not seen the end I wanted for both of them (together romantically, of course), I would love to see you two acting together again. I send you greetings and warm embraces from Brazil. I will be following your next works. Here we stand!

______sJA ______

It seems a rare thing in the world of 'Game of Thrones' for a character to get such a poetic ending... So as much as I was genuinely gutted to see Jorah's final scenes, I'm also really glad that he at least got to go out how he would have wanted to - protecting the woman he loved and who made him want to be a better man.

I read the books before watching the show and think the portrayal of Jorah was just perfect - So emotionally authentic and true to the character, some incredibly compelling acting for sure! So, Thanks for playing Jorah, Iain - I can't imagine him having been played so convincingly by anybody else,

______sJA ______

Dear Iain,

I’m a massive fan of yours and I think you’re an amazing and extremely talented actor. I’ve seen much of your work and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it all. My two favourite characters of yours are Ser Jorah Mormont and Jack Taylor. You were fantastic as Ser Jorah and the best actor by far in the show. I was really hoping you’d survive through the whole of the final series but unfortunately that was not to be. I was very upset when Ser Jorah died but it was a fitting way to go, protecting your Queen to the very end!

Thank you so much for all of your wonderful and brilliant work over the years. I very much look forward to watching your future work. I wish you nothing but continued success and the very, very best for the future. ______sJA ______

Thank you for all your work. Thanks especially for all the convention appearances and interviews and red carpets, showing us another side of you. You light up the world. May you work as long as you want to and thank you Sarah for doing this.

______sJA ______

Dear Iain

I was first introduced to you as Jorah the bear. Presenting a gift to a maiden so fair. I found myself excited, seeing you week after week. Avoiding the spoilers, not taking a peek. Your portrayal of sweet Jorah made me root for that man. Hoping he’d make it to end if he can. But, alas Jorah was a human shield and I don’t think my heart will truly be healed. You’re an amazing actor to make someone care about a fictional character that’s not really there. I wish you the best in all that you do, and may every opportunity be presented to you. One of your She-Bears

______sJA ______

Dear Mr. Glen

Thank you so much for your portrayal of Ser Jorah! I'm so happy he was on the show for such a long time and every episode was instantly better because of him. I cried my eyes out watching his final moments and for the next days too, but if he really had to go, his journey ended in a very proper way. And even though that scene makes my heart ache very much, thanks to you and Emilia it was very beautiful and one of most memorable in the whole series.

Just like Jorah is for me the most memorable and important character ever and I will forever be grateful to you for that. Thanks to Jorah some very dark and difficult days became easier and he has helped me find the strength to never give up and keep going no matter what. "Here I stand" - just like the Mormont’s would say, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you so very much again!

______sJA ______

Dear Iain,

Thank you very much for the incredible performance you gave us portraying Jorah! Jorah is my favourite character in the books as well. I think you did for Jorah what Colin Firth did for Mr Darcy! (I hope you don’t dislike him… anyway, it was my clumsy way to make you a compliment)

______sJA ______

Hi Iain...

I'm new member to your fan group... I know it's gonna sound crazy but I'll admit it's not until Jorah's death scene protecting Daenerys, that you caught my whole attention and at the same time, captured my heart just to break it into thousand pieces... I have always acknowledged Jorah's affection and devotion towards Dany... But not like this when he died as a human shield protecting her as he had always promised... Jorah proved his word, his love and his loyalty then and there... This compelled me to take a look back more closely to their journey as companions and see the faults and beauty in it... I can't stand not telling you what a marvellous job you did portraying Jorah Mormont and that I'm soooo proud for Jorah more than any character in GOT... Obviously not everyone got a heroic death, right? In a parallel universe, where there is Westeros and where I get to be the Khaleesi, Jorah Mormont would be my choice without a second thought...  ______sJA ______

Hello Iain! A little note to tell you that i discovered you in Game of Thrones and... what an incredible actor ! You played very good Jorah Mormont's role, I think you were one of the best actors in the show and I hope we will be able to see you soon on the screen for some other wonderful projects because you deserve it!, Best wishes

______sJA ______

Dear Iain

I just wanted to thank you for bringing to life this amazing character. I fell in love with Jorah since season 1 and it was because of you that I started to read the books (I like Jorah in the books as well). I’m sad that GOT ended but I’m eager to see you in other works (Jack Taylor is on the top of my list).

I wish you the best. Lots of love from Lima

Dear Mr Glen

I can't express just how much Ser Jorah Mormont and Game of Thrones have meant to me over the past many years. Your wonderful acting has made me feel more invested in a character than at any point in my life. You delivered a fantastic performance every step of the way and crafted such a beautifully heart breaking character whom I'll cherish forever.

I will miss Game of Thrones immensely. Daenerys and Ser Jorah will be my couple now and always. Thank you again, Iain, for making such an impact on my life. Sincerely,

______sJA ______

Can a few words express what art can bring to one’s life? You sir, your work in general, and in particular on Game of Thrones, this amazingly nuanced and rich composition you’ve crafted over almost 10 years, have indeed enriched my life. I’ve always considered actors as contemporary shamans you take us by the hand and enable us to explore the human soul in ways we dare not. Those who believe acting is lying have it all wrong; you bring us the truth of who we are through your characters.

Your Ser Jorah Mormont has enable us to fully embrace the poignancy of unrequited love and reconnect with the Romantic trope of l’amour courtois in ways we would never allow ourselves in real life. Though impossibly idealistic, your incarnation of that trope was layered with such humanity, from the spiritual to the erotic (and aren’t the two the same sometimes?) in your rapport with your sparring partner, Ms Emilia Clarke, that it absolutely stood out in the already rich and complex construction that is GoT. Thank you for this unique experience, thank you for your body or work, and may you continue to enrich all of our lives for many years to come.

Hello Iain, like so many of the Ser Jorah Army, I'm gutted that Jorah and Daenerys didn't make it to the end of the show. I don't think 'ugly crying' would justify how i looked during the episode Jorah died for Daenerys. But I'm more than grateful Jorah lasted as long as he did and that he went out as a hero. Iain, you're a brilliant actor and you never seem to stop working on new projects, which of course we all love as fans. I also wanted to say, thank you for doing Conventions. I'm yet to meet you but i can't wait to do so one day. I have a Jorah cosplay that i would love to show to you at a convention.

I'll keep this short but Iain know that you do have a good, strong group of fans who are dedicated to you as an Actor. Though most of us find you very attractive too, we have the highest respect to you and all the work you do. Stay healthy and i look forward to seeing ‘The flood’ which is out soon.

______sJA ______

Hi Iain!

I just want to thank you so much for being involved in Game of Thrones. Your portrayal of Ser Jorah got me hooked onto the series and it also made him my favourite character ever since we first see him and his journey begin in season 1. I was absolutely gutted I wasn't able to get to London Film & Comic Con to meet you in person last year, and I really hope perhaps in the future we might see you at other cons around the UK?

Seeing Jorah's last scenes in season 8 recently has really saddened me, many tears were shed! What a journey! I was really hoping we would see him standing next to Daenerys until the very end but he went out in the most honourable way possible. I have recently joined this wonderful group called 'Ser Jorah's Army' on facebook and it is honestly such a lovely community to be in and to celebrate how amazing you are. I really hope I get to meet you soon!

______sJA ______

Dear Iain,

Very few things have gripped me like Game of Thrones has. For a series with ten episode seasons, it has taken up so much more of my time and attention span than for the hour that it airs. I am incredibly grateful, because that took me away from my pains and provided a relief that no doctors or fancy medications could ever produce. That is the magic of storytelling, and I want you to know that you and your supporting cast and crew are so good at it. When I learned what Emilia Clarke went through, it struck a very familiar chord in me.

It also inspires me. I am not fully healed, but I am better, and now my dreams are no longer out of reach. I want to film. I want to edit. I want to direct. I’ve had these passions since I was very young. I want to one day be a part of a crew like Game of Thrones and create something special. I want to entertain, yes, but I also want to give the relief that Game of Thrones, Dany, and Jorah had provided for me that a decade of doctor appointments could not.

What you do, and what Game of Thrones has done, is quite special. I am forever grateful for that. I was 14 when I got hurt, and I was misdiagnosed for 9 years before I found treatment. I am 27 now, graduating with my associate’s degree, and am transferring to a performing arts school where I can finally learn all about film production. It has been a long journey for me, but I am here, I am tough, and I am grateful, and I am ready for the next challenge.

Give the Khaleesi a hug for me, yes? A bear hug, maybe? Because you’re a Mormont and— oh, never mind.

Hello sir Iain,

Thank you for making us believe that nobody can take the right to love someone selflessly away from us although we may not get the love reciprocated. Thank you for making us longing for a ser Jorah in our life. Thank you for that amazing voice that I can listen to for hour, With all love and respect from India

Dear Iain,

I think you are an amazing actor. I feel like you have been part of my life forever! I have been a big fan of your acting for a very long time, fantastic in Tomb Raider, your character Manfred Powell is so, so bad. You play bad so good and good so good! (I hope that makes sense) Loved you as Jorah in Game of Thrones, I was devastated when Jorah died in battle. I really thought you would make it to the end and sit on the Iron Throne. I hope someday to meet you in person to tell you what a fantastic actor I think you are and hopefully get your autograph. I wish you all the best with everything you do in the future and look forward to whatever your next project is with excitement.

Dear Mr. Glen,

A note to offer sincere appreciation for your amazing body of work and the absolute perfection of each performance you Gift your audience and fans with.

Your most recent appearance as Ser Jorah Mormont, the embodiment of devotion and trust, in Game of Thrones has gotten me through two reoccurrences of late stage cancer. I can't thank you enough for the inspiration and encouragement your onscreen presence provides.

The grace and appreciation you offer your fans is also evident in your interactions and I send you my heartfelt gratitude for everything you give so freely to those of us who follow you with all our hearts. Cheers and Thanks from across the pond - can't wait to share the special new work you have in store for us!

______sJA ______

Hey Iain,

Love your work. Most recently, you turned a character I felt little for in a book into the character I felt the most for in a TV show. I am Team Jorah all the way. The tears I shed at Jorah’s demise lasted for days.. I still can’t listen to the music without tearing up. You’ve been incredible in so many roles, and I can’t wait to see you in your next!

Dear Iain,

Sarah is so nice to put this book together to send to you! She is always looking out for ways to keep us connected with you. I wanted to express my admiration for you and your work on Game of Thrones. I started watching the show after the 6th season, and I binge watched 60 hours!! It was a mental onslaught, as you can probably imagine. But my brain singled out you and your character very early on. You have a presence on screen that always adds that special something. Even when you stand there silently! This last season of Game of Thrones was hard to say goodbye to everyone. It was even more difficult by seemingly abbreviated character arcs. However, even though I was very sad that Jorah died, I don't feel like his arc was slighted. Naturally, I would have preferred for him to live and have a much larger role! But overall I'm relieved that Jorah was given a final storyline that fit within his established character. It was so very touching to hear more from you and Emilia on how close your friendship is, and I admit that that made your final scenes together even more heart wrenching.

Thank you so much for all you have given to Jorah and Game of Thrones, and most especially you’re fans. We're looking forward to seeing you on screen again very soon!

Love and best wishes,

Hi Iain,

I just wanted to thank you for being so brilliant on Game of Thrones. I have been a huge fan for many years and am very sad to see GOT finish after being hooked on it for so long and was really upset when Jorah died. I have been struggling with depression for many years and came across Ser Jorah’s Army on twitter many years. The group and Sarah in particular have helped me so much deal with my issues and have become my online family. I will be watching out for what you do in the future. Thanks for everything

Hey Iain

I'm keeping this pretty short. I'm fairly new to your work only first having seen you in Game of Thrones but since then I've caught up on Jack Taylor and Delicious, amongst other things, both of which I love. You're an amazing actor!

Dear Iain I must confess, that I first became aware of you through your role as Ser Jorah Mormont in Game of Thrones. The way you play your roles has fascinated me immediately, so I have watched many of your films. You're a great actor and I hope to see a lot more of you in the future. So I wish you all the best for your career and private life.

Dear Iain,

I’m Sira from Barcelona, Spain. I’m a very big fan of yours since the first day I saw you in Game of Thrones.

You can’t imagine how Jorah impact to my life. In my opinion is the most loyal, kind and charming character of the series. I didn’t cry in any episode except one, the war against white walkers where Jorah dies. I enjoyed a lot the episode but I can’t stop crying for you. However, I like how your character ends. I think is a perfect way, defending his queen.

With this letter I only wanted to tell you how wonderful it has been and, actually, is your work. Now I follow you in Jack Taylor and whatever you do hehe. I hope someday I could meet you. Keep working, thanks for all!

______sJA ______

Thank you for 8 glorious seasons of Ser Jorah. Noble, brave and far from perfect but probably (like ) one of the few characters who understood what it meant to try and do the right thing. There was so much acting going on without you saying a word in the library scene at Winterfell. I cried with Daenerys at the end. Wishing you luck and love in your future career - thank you for Jorah - the best character in GOT - I just wish you’d lived
