Georges BINET (1865/1949) , the bustling . Oil on panel signed lower left. 19 x 24 cm Georges Jules Ernest Binet born in on April 30, 1865 and died in Toulon on July 9, 1949 is a French painter. He is known for his paintings of scenes from Norman life, beach shores, rivers or animated landscapes. Son of Jean Léon Adolphe Binet (1827-1905) and Désirée Flore Deveaux (1837-1913), Georges Binet married in 1906 Madeleine Dan (1877-1967) with whom he had his only son Jean Georges Charles Maurice Binet. The latter published in 1964 a book on his father entitled Georges Binet 1865-1949, mon père. Georges Binet's notoriety was built around his work as a landscaper. Artist originally from Normandy, he represents the lively banks of the at the beginning of the 20th century.
