Create Aura in the Aurasma App

• Download the Aurasma App for iOS or Android @ • http://www.aurasma.com/

Augmented Reality Explained Video Auras are a combination of an overly and a trigger image.

Step 1: Create or choose your overlay (what plays when trigger image is scanned.)

• Click on the Arrow icon at the bottom. o Can take video or upload from camera roll.

Click on the + at the bottom to create new Aura.

Choose one of the preloaded overlays or add your own.

Click on Device tab at bottom to access your camera roll or take a video.

Create or Select Video on Camera Roll

Choose Photo Album to add video from camera roll. • Navigate to your video and select.

Choose Camera if you want to record.

Camera to record: Important

Click OK to allow Aurasma to access your microphone.

If students click “Don’t Allow” by mistake- • Settings>Privacy>Find app and Allow

Here I chose camera so I can record what I have learned or want to say about a topic.

Students can also videotape each other by switching camera views.

You can Retake if you don’t like.

When your happy with the video click Use Video.

Your video should now show up in your Overlay Library.

Click on your video to select for your overlay in this aura.

Now click on the purple Select button to go to the next step>

Step 2: Capture a “Trigger Image.”

Take a picture for your trigger image • Note: Can’t upload from camera roll

• Here I took a picture of my I.D. • This is what others will scan to bring up the video overlay. (The I.D. or picture of I.D)

• Important: Don’t take the picture until the bar goes all the way to the right and turns green.

• Click on the camera icon to continue

You can even take a picture of a screen or object or Trigger Image print an image from any location.

Trigger images will work if • You print out the picture • Scan it on the screen of your device.

Once you take a picture, it loads on top of your overlay Overlay on top like shown on the left.

Click on Position Overlay

• Now you can reposition the overlay video to where you want on the picture. • You can also pinch to resize. o I positioned the video to play on top of the picture on my I.D. • Click on the purple arrow box to continue (see above.)

Important Options: • Make sure to make your Aura Public so others can scan. • Add your Aura to a Channel so others can follow.

Step 3: Scan/View your Aura

• Open the Aurasma app on your device. • Click on the Camera button at the bottom. • Scan the trigger image. • The overlay will play “on top” of the picture. • Note: You’ll need to follow your own channel to scan/view on a different device.

Step 4: Allowing others to view your Aura on their devices.

• Others will need to “follow your channel” • You can put a sign by your auras with these directions:

1. Download the Aurasma app on your . 2. Search for ______channel. 3. Follow that channel.

Ideas:

1 Welcome visitors and introduce the school. 2 Create a bulletin board- with auras to information or project videos. 3 Create auras on worksheets that play videos explaining content. 4 Create auras in centers with directions for tasks/experiments 5 Animate mathematical problems being solved. 6 Auras linked to student work with videos explaining the process or steps. 7 Report on current events. Take a screenshot of digital newspaper or take picture of hard copy. 8 Explain steps of a science lab experiment. 9 Aura leads to a screencast video (Educreations, 30 Hands, Show me, Knowmia) to demonstrate a concept to students to review. 10 Explain how to use school equipment (useful in my technology or science classrooms 11 Bring famous people from history to life with students acting out their most famous moments or words. 11 Explain famous paintings on demand 12 Introduce apps with demos of students using them.
