The Area 4 VOA is super excited to announce that our event is now officially the largest non– Council Venturing event in the Central Region! At the time of this publication, we are just a couple short of 300!!! I am super excited to see how quickly Seven Ranges Scout Reservation is going to come to life over the course of a weekend. Commonly referred to in the United States as neckerchiefs, WorldFest’s official Group Identity for the weekend will be these custom neckers, as they are referred to in the international Scouting community. You can bring a neckerchief slide or learn to tie the International Friendship Knot and show off your limited edition WorldFest 2015 necker! Limited quantities will be available for sale at WorldFest in addition to the one given to each participant. Dunk Tank!!! Being part of C4VOA is fun and running an Area WorldFest is a BLAST! You can talk to youth who have served at WorldFest including current and past Area and Region Officers. Application available at: www.tinyurl.com/Area4App How to Check– In When you arrive at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation, your Crew President and Advisor, Ship Boatswain and Skipper, or Contingent Advisors and Youth Leader should go to the Administration building to check in. You will need 2 copies of your roster, a copy of your paid receipt, BSA Medical Forms for all members of your contingent (including staff), and any special needs in writing. You will receive your Lodging Assignments, Wristbands (which need to be worn all weekend), Ammo Chits, WorldFest2015 Necker and Patch, and a schedule of activities. You need BSA Class A & B Annual Medical Records completed. This does not require a doctors signature, just some medical information for safety. Here is a link to the BSA Annual Medical Record form: www.tinyurl.com/WorldFestMedical When you check in at WorldFest2015, you will need to have a BSA medical form to give to the Risk Management Chair at check in. Crews will need to turn in a copy of their medical forms and they should keep an additional copy with a Crew Advisor for all participants. If you are on staff, you too need to bring your medical form and file it with the Risk Management Chair when you check in. There will be at least 2 RNs at WorldFest all weekend for any medical issues that arise. Medical forms will be returned to the Crew Advisor at check out. Message from the Scout Exec Dear Venturers of Area 4 and Beyond; Let me be the first to welcome you to Seven Ranges Scout Reservation, home of the Summer Camp Operations of Buckeye Council. We are excited to host each of you for what looks to be an exciting weekend of outdoor activity and adventure. Seven Ranges first hosted Scouts in 1987 and since has been a place many look forward to coming back to each year for an unforgettable outdoor adventure. We take great pride in Buckeye Council with this property. 7R, as we like to call it, is nearly 900 acres of wilderness and developed property, we boost an 1,100 seat dining hall, Leadership Village with indoor housing for 96, numerous hiking trails, Shooting Sports facility (Shotgun, Rifle, Pistol), a 56+ acre lake with fishing and other waterfront activities, and many more program areas. WorldFest Programs Friday Night Fun After your Crew checks in and sets up camp, come down to the Dining Hall for an Open House Party with snacks and music! Throughout check in, there will be ice breakers and team bonding games, followed by Open Mic Night at 10pm. Advisors can grab a cup of coffee and talk with Camp Commissioners in the Advisors Coffee Lounge under the dining hall. Saturday Activities Saturday morning will open up with some amazing activities, including rock climbing, an obstacle course, jousting, a National Guard exhibit, mountain man encampment, low COPE, shooting sports and geocaching. These events are going on all morning and also during the Afternoon Activity time at 2:30. Starting off the afternoon will be the International Midway (more details below) as well a Dunk Tank fundraiser for the World Scouting Fund, a Columbus Zoo exhibit, Meet the Presidents, and Tonweya Indian Dancers. After the International Feast for dinner, there will be an Interfaith Worship Service and Area 4 Court of Honor before breaking off into more programs. In the evening, we will be having Venturing Discussions, including topics like “Building Stronger Crews”, “Building Stronger Council VOAs”, and “Area & Region Support– How Can We Help?” where we can work together and use each other’s experiences to strengthen our programs. International Midway The International Midway is right after lunch and is a chance for Venturers to see a bunch of cool stuff. There will be vendors from the National Scout Shop, World Scouting Museum, Amateur Radio, Sheriff’s Department, and local Fire Department. In addition, every Council will have a booth to showcase something fun for Venturers to do! Also, participants can go through CPR certification for just $5! Saturday Training Sessions Trainings are all on Saturday morning and include a Sea Scout training with the Area 4 Sea Scout Commodore, “Putting the WOW into Your Venturing Program” with Area 4 Venturing President Nate Steele, “International Scouting Adventures” with Area 2 Associate Advisor Matt Bursley, and “Technology in Venturing” with Central Region Venturing President– elect Brian Parro. All trainings are 30 minutes long, packed full with insightful tips on how to improve your Crew’s Venturing program! Great for Youth and Advisors alike! Also, on Saturday afternoon, Area 4 VP of Training Nathan Jarosz is leading Mentoring Others Training, required for the Summit Award. Sunday Morning Start your day off right with a hearty breakfast before you hit the road! Also, WorldFest 2016 information will be released with the new theme officially announced! While at camp, Scouts can put into action, the skills that they have practiced year-round within your unit program. Seven Ranges Scout Reservation is operated by the Buckeye Council, Inc., Boy Scouts of America. It is in Northern Carroll County and encompasses nearly 1,000 acres of rolling hills, woods, meadows, lakes, and ponds.

    BALOO'S BUGLE Volume 10, Number 10 June Cub Scout Roundtable July Cub Scout Theme FIN FUN Tiger Cub Activities Webelos Geologist & Aquanaut FOCUS Cub Scouting Roundtable Planning Guide Dive right in as our Cub Scouts spend a month learning about water, one of our most precious resources, and the many creatures that live in our oceans, lakes, and rivers. Dens can visit a local aquarium or fish farm. Or you may want to try your hand at fishing. Cub Scouts may even want to prepare their own aquarium or fish bowl and "adopt a gold fish." This is also an excellent opportunity to teach our Cub Scouts about water conservation and "catch & release" programs. Don't forget the importance of learning about water safety. So hit the beaches, there's a lot to "sea!" Summertime Fun Planning CORE VALUES We had an interesting Leaders’ meeting this month setting Cub Scouting Roundtable Planning Guide up our summer program.     Neighborhood Coordinator Position Description The Boy Scouts of America has an opportunity for those who want to serve youth in At Risk communities. The Neighborhood Coordinator will work in conjunction with our partnering organizations to teach youth life skills. Manage and run meetings on a weekly basis, church, or recreational center. This position is part time and located within the City of Canton and Canton City School District. Compensation will be $15 per hour and up to 20 hours per week. Be responsible for implementing and supervising the Scouting program for an in-school or after school setting. Requirements • Individuals, male or female, must be 21 years old. Scouting background (Boy or Girl Scouts) would be preferred, but not necessary. • The candidate must submit to a Boy Scouts of America, FBI, and BCI criminal background check and pass all three of these background checks. • Register as an Adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America, along with the requirement to complete mandatory training that includes the Youth Protection Training and Cub Scout leader training. • Receptive to work with young boys and girls, grades K-5. • Classroom Duties • Coordinates program schedule with the respective School Principal or other Point of Contact. • Executes lesson plans by grade each week. Program Duties • Conducts recruitment of youth at the respective schools served and turns in youth applications to the Director of Scoutreach. • Completes an annual re-Chartering process for submission to the local council office. • Keeps attendance records of those students participating in the program. • Execute weekly program to student participants .

    The where to go camping guide has been put together by the Order of the Arrow and the Outdoor Program Committee to give a list of places units can go for various activities. It contains a list of Camps, parks, and other facilities available within a reasonable distance. There are roughly 200 locations listed. Our hope is that you will use this guide as a reference as you research and plan your upcoming camping and hiking trips and other activities for your unit. Updated June 2018 Page 1 How to use this guide: The list is alphabetical, and each one contains at least one means of contact info. Below the contact info section is a website link, followed by if it has hiking trails, and last is the list of things the location has to offer. There will usually be two locations listed per page, with the document being 100 pages in length.
