Wednesday, December 11 Kaylee Boalt joined ACYPL in July 2016, serving the organization as a Program Officer, the Professional Fellows Program Manager, and now Program Director as of January 2019. In her role, Kaylee liaises with ACYPL’s international and domestic partners and oversees the program team in the implementation of global exchange programs. Prior to joining ACYPL, Kaylee was the Director of Student Programs at the National Council on US-Arab Relations where she administered leadership development programs and facilitated short-term exchanges for American professors and students studying the Arab World. Kaylee graduated from Converse College in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in politics and music. During her time at Converse, she performed in opera productions in the US and Italy and realized her passion for educational exchanges during a study visit to Saudi Arabia in 2012.

The Embassy of Qatar, Washington, DC houses Qatar's diplomatic mission to the United States. The chancery is located at 2555 M Street NW on the western edge of the West End near the Georgetown neighborhood. The current ambassador is Sheikh Meshal bin Hamad Al Thani.

Meryem Guergaf is the Public Diplomacy Coordinator at the Embassy of Qatar in Washington, DC.

Libby Rosenbaum serves as the Chief Executive Officer overseeing ACYPL’s fundraising, communications, grants management, new business development, and strategic planning. Libby previously served as the Vice President of Programs and Communications. Prior to this, Libby served as the Education Partnerships Manager at the British Council where she promoted and established US-UK university research collaborations and planned international summits devoted to higher education best practice. She also served as the Major Gifts Officer at the Center for American Progress, a progressive think tank, and as a fundraiser on the US Senate campaigns of Ken Salazar and Joe Hoeffel. Libby graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in political science and received an MSc in politics and government of the European Union from the London School of Economics. She previously traveled on an ACYPL exchange to Timor Leste in 2017 and to Argentina in 2019.

Cameron Schupp joined ACYPL as the Development Manager in September 2015, before becoming the Development & Special Projects Director in 2018. In this role, Cameron is responsible for managing fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship, corporate partnerships, and ACYPL events. Additionally, in partnership with the Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Exchange, Cameron works with the Director of Special Programs to produce the bi- annual Professional Fellows Congress—a conference for over 600 emerging leaders from around the world. Cameron graduated from George Mason University in 2013 with a double major in global affairs and conflict analysis and resolution. Before joining the ACYPL team worked with the International Executive Service Corp (IESC) and as a Program Assistant at JASS, a women’s rights organization. She traveled with ACYPL to the Philippines and Indonesia in 2019.

Thursday, December 12 Mohammed Al Kuwari is a Qatari politician who was the Ambassador of Qatar to the United States from March 2014 to December 2016. Mohammed started his career at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981 as a Third Secretary. He was first posted to Washington DC from 1981 to 1986, and then Madrid from 1986 to 1990. He was then assigned as Chief of the Information Department of the Cooperation Council to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1990 to 1991 and was then posted to Tehran from 1991 to 1992. Mohammed served as Deputy Head of Cabinet from 1993 to 1995, Director of European and American Affairs from 1995 to 1997 and again from

2001 to 2002. He was a member of the Diplomatic Consular Services from 1997–2001 and head of delegation of the Qatari political and strategic dialogue with France from 2001 to 2002. He received a bachelor's degree in political science from University of Portland and a master's degree in international relations from the University of Madrid.

Anna Waisgerber joined ACYPL in September 2019 as the Communications Manager. Prior to joining the ACYPL team, Anna served as an Undergraduate Research Fellow for the Project on National Movements, Congressional District Intern in Massachusetts, Marketing Assistant and Electrician for the Boston College Theatre Department, and Public Policy Intern for the Massachusetts Alliance of YMCAs. Anna graduated from Boston College in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in international studies and a minor in ethics and social justice, concentrating on Central and Eastern Europe. She also studied and interned abroad in Krakow, Poland in 2017.

Saturday, December 14 Established in 2000, the Doha Forum is a platform for global dialogue on critical challenges facing our world. The Doha Forum promotes the interchange of ideas, discourse, policy making, and action-oriented recommendations. In a world where borders are porous, our challenges and solutions are also interlinked. The 2019 Doha Forum will delve into topics of: Trends and technology; Trade and investment; Human capital and inequality; Security, cyber-governance, and defense; International organizations, civil society, and non-state actors; and Culture and identity.

Monday, December 16 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the ministry responsible for handling Qatar's external relations and diplomatic efforts, including the maintenance of its diplomatic missions across the globe. The current minister is Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The US Embassy in Doha has the mission to advance the interests of the United States, and serve and protect U.S. citizens in Qatar.

The Museum of Islamic Art is a museum in Doha, Qatar that represents Islamic art from three continents over 1,400 years. Designed by world-renowned architect I.M. Pei, the museum building has become an icon. Standing apart on the waters of the Corniche, it draws influence from traditional Islamic architecture. The building is made from limestone, which captures hourly changes in light and shade. Per I. M. Pei's specifications, the museum is built on an island off an artificial projecting peninsula near the traditional dhow harbor.

The Qatar National Museum gives voice to the unique story of Qatar and its people from earliest times to the present day and onwards towards its future. Designed to be both immersive and experiential, visitors can expect to encounter a rich environment to explore. Organized in three “chapters” — Beginnings, Life in Qatar, and The Modern History of Qatar, each theme is presented across eleven highly individual galleries. The museum opened to the public in March of 2019.

2022 FIFA World Cup Supreme Committee of Delivery and Legacy (SC) is well-advanced in the planning of host country operations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The SC is also making rapid progress in building stadiums and other infrastructure, and ensuring the tournament and its preparations contribute to Qatar's sustainable development. From the stadiums where football

10 history will be made to infrastructure, accommodation, and transport, the SC and their stakeholders are making sure that Qatar is ready to welcome the world in 2022.

Souq Waqif is a marketplace in Doha, Qatar. The Souq is noted for selling traditional garments, spices, handicrafts, and souvenirs. It is also home to dozens of restaurants and Shisha lounges.

Tuesday, December 17 The Shura Council of the State of Qatar was established in 1972 and is one of the two main branches of Qatar's legislative body. For any proposed laws to have effect, they are presented before the Shura Council for consideration and suggestions. The other organ is the Cabinet, which proposes bills, prepares draft laws and refers them to the Shura Council for due consideration and recommendations thereafter. The Council has five committees including: Information and Cultural Affairs; Economic and Financial Affairs; Internal and External Affairs; Legal and Legislative Affairs; and Services and Public Utilities.

Education City is an initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. Located in City on the outskirts of Doha, Qatar, Education City covers 14 square kilometers (5.4 square miles) and houses educational facilities from school age to research level and branch campuses of some of the world's major universities. Education City aims to be instructing students in fields of importance to the Gulf Cooperation Council region. It is also conceived of as a forum where universities share research and forge relationships with businesses and institutions in public and private sectors. Education City was launched by Qatar Foundation in 1997. The same year, Virginia Commonwealth University became the first institute to establish itself on its campus. The city was officially inaugurated in 2003. Currently, there are six American universities, one British university, one French university, and one Qatari university on campus: Virginia Commonwealth University, Cornell University, Texas A&M University, Carnegie Mellon University, Georgetown University, Northwestern University, University College London, HEC Paris, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University. Over the past 20 years, Education City has grown from a single school to a multi university campus with students from over 50 countries and an enormous research fund, offering significant opportunities for the advancement of knowledge and research across all disciplines

Georgetown University in Qatar is a campus of Georgetown University in Education City, outside of Doha, Qatar. It is one of Georgetown University's 10 undergraduate and graduate schools. GU-Q is supported by a partnership between Qatar Foundation and Georgetown University.

Qatar National Library is part of the Education City and contains Doha’s National Library, Public Library and University Library, and preserves the Heritage Collection, which consists of valuable texts and manuscripts related to the Arab-Islamic civilization. The public library houses over a million books and space for thousands of readers.

Al Jazeera is a Qatari state-funded broadcaster in Doha, Qatar, owned by the Al Jazeera Media Network, headquartered in Doha, Qatar. It is the first English-language news channel to be headquartered in the Middle East. Initially launched as an Arabic news and current-affairs satellite TV channel, Al Jazeera has since expanded into a network with several outlets, including the Internet and specialty television channels in multiple languages. Al Jazeera Media Network is a major global news organization, with 80 bureaus around the world.

Wednesday, December 18 Qatar National Day is a national commemoration of Qatar's unification in 1878 and is celebrated annually on December 18. The holiday was established by a June 21, 2007 decree of the then

Crown Prince and Heir Apparent Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. It is also known as Founder's Day.

Mesaieed is an industrial city in Municipality in the State of Qatar, approximately 36 kilometres (22 mi) south of Doha. It was one of the most important cities in Qatar during the 20th century, having gained in recognition as a prime industrial zone and tanking center for petroleum received from . Both Mesaieed and its are administered by a subdivision of called "Mesaieed Industry City Management," which was established in 1996.

Sealine Beach is located in Mesaieed, Qatar, approximately 36 kilometers south of the capital, Doha. Sealine Beach is reportedly a great spot for fishing and camping, especially during the winter season.

The Honorable Micah Caskey Member South Carolina House of Representatives Republican

Micah was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2016, representing District 89. He is also an Owner and Attorney at Caskey Law Firm where he focuses on civil litigation, criminal defense, and personal injury cases.

Previously, Micah was a Prosecutor for South Carolina’s 11th Judicial Circuit Solicitors office and has also worked for RLG International in Anchorage, Alaska as an oil and gas consultant. Micah served in the United States Marine Corps where he rose to the level of Captain, after multiple tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Micah received his bachelor’s degree in political science from University of Florida. He also earned both his law degree and a master’s degree in international business administration from the University of South Carolina. Micah previously traveled on an ACYPL exchange to Australia in 2018.

The Honorable Stephanie Howse Member Ohio House of Representatives Democrat

Stephanie was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2014 representing the 11th District, which includes part of Cleveland. In the House, she serves on the Aging and Long-Term Care, Finance, and Transportation and Public Safety Committees.

Before being elected to the House, Stephanie co-founded Footprints, a leadership development and mentoring organization dedicated to nurturing and cultivating a positive self-image in girls ages 9–17, while building character on the principles of self-respect, life endeavors, community, and the arts. She was also a consultant at Notable Interactions, Ltd,, the Admissions and Community Outreach Director at E Prep and Village Prep Schools, and a substitute teacher in schools throughout the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Stephanie is a certified LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) by the United States Green Building Council.

Stephanie received a bachelor’s degree in civil (environmental) engineering from Florida A+M University. She also completed graduate work in environmental studies at Cleveland State University. Stephanie previously traveled on an ACYPL exchange to Morocco and Tunisia in 2016.

The Honorable Peter Kim Mayor City of La Palma Republican

Peter was elected to the La Palma City Council in November 2012 and was reelected in November 2016. He currently serves as Mayor of the City of La Palma, a position he also held from 2014-2015. Peter is also the Director of the Orange County Sanitation District where he is the

Chair of the Legislative and Public Affairs Committee and a Member of the Steering, Administration, and Audit Ad Hoc Committees.

Professionally, Peter is Chief of Staff to California State Assemblymember Tyler Diep. Prior to working for the State Assembly, Peter worked 12 years for the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration and the California State Board of Equalization, the agencies in charge with administering the state’s sales and use tax. Peter is also a Member of the La Palma Kiwanis Club and served as a Founding Director of the La Palma Community Foundation.

Peter graduated from the University of California at Irvine with a bachelor’s degree in political science and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in public administration at California State University, Fullerton. Peter previously traveled on an ACYPL exchange to China and Taiwan in 2014.

Ms. Emily Mellencamp Smith Founder EMS Strategies Democrat

Emily is the Founder of EMS Strategies, where she advises Members of Congress, candidates, party committees and organizations on strategic political planning, fundraising, and development. Recent clients include the Democratic National Committee, EMILY’s List, and the National Governors Association.

Previously, Emily was the National Finance Director for the Democratic National Committee. She also served as a National Finance Director for the US Senate campaigns of Maggie Hassan (D- NH), Kamala Harris (D-CA), and Al Franken (D-MN). Prior to these positions, Emily was the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of Congresswoman Ann McLane Kuster (D-NH). Additionally, Emily is the Co-Founder of the Future Forum Foundation, which is a non-profit that explores policy related to the millennial generation.

Emily earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania.

The Honorable Nick Mosby Member Maryland House of Delegates Democrat

Nick was elected to the Maryland General Assembly in 2017 to represent the 40th District and currently serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and the Marijuana Legalization Work Group. Nick is also a Member of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland.

Prior to his election, Nick represented the 7th District on the Baltimore City Council. He also worked as a Senior Project Manager for Baltimore Gas and Electric and as an engineer at Verizon. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of former US Congressman Elijah Cummings’ Youth Program.

Nick received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Tuskegee University. He previously traveled on an ACYPL exchange to Tunisia and Morocco in 2018.

Ms. Leigh Moyers Senior Manager, Federal Government Affairs The Toy Association Republican

Leigh is currently the Senior Manager of Federal Government Affairs for The Toy Association in Washington, DC. In this role, Leigh advocates on international trade issues, product safety, marketing and advertising to children and environmental sustainability on behalf of the company.

Leigh was previously the Manager for the Office of Government Relations at Feld Entertainment Inc. (FEI) where she lobbied the interests of the company to members of Congress, congressional staff, and the District of Columbia City Council. Prior to her time with FEI, Leigh was the Director of Operations for the US Senate Republican Conference and served as a Legislative Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Chris is a Principal at the Texas Star Alliance where he is responsible for the lobbying and state agency relations for the company. Chris has several years of experience working in legislation and policy initiatives, specifically in the energy sector.

Prior to this role, Chris served as the Chief of Staff for Elizabeth Ames Jones, the Chair of the Railroad Commission of Texas. He also served as Elizabeth’s Legislative Director during her time in the Texas House of Representatives. In 2018, Chris won Texas Oil and Gas Award for Service Excellence, the first energy lobbyist to win the award. In 2013, he was named in the Austin Business Journal’s “Who’s Who in Energy” section.
