 The Trustees of this Foundation have set the topmost agenda for the Trust operating Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital to balance eye patient health, safety with technological progress. They also decide on to provide free eye treatment for millions of poor eye patients (fall in the BPL) of the North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Unfortunately, no other eye institute was poised to restore eyesight of millions of below poverty line people here. Trustees also realized that it would not be practical in the long run to complete such mega task set for this eye hospital continuously procuring sophisticated equipment and endless recurring expenditure on charitable basis --- a regular inflow of funds were desperately in need, so that they could make the eye hospital a self-sustainable. In addition to cater to the demands of a thriving, eye hospital and owing to geriatric health issues the then Managing Trustee, Shri Atmakuri Sankar Rao garu reached out to Smt. K.B.N.Mani Mala and appointed her as Chief Executive for this institute on an honorarium basis. This duo, along with the able team of eye care providers pushed the potential of the hospital to the next level. Thus, this Foundation has started to offer paid eye care services to the affordable patients, i.e., from semi to full paid patients as well as initiated to raise funds from other NGO’s, Corporates, Philanthropists, INGO’s. And cross subsidized these revenues to provide free eye treatment for the Below Poverty Line at their door steps. And made the community ophthalmology to reach the grassroots living
