LRS Mine Mapping Tool User Manual

Introduction The LRS Mine Mapping Tool has been created as a resource to assist in accessing the locations, owners and contact details for management and worker leaders on SADC mines. It holds the details for all the currently producing mines in the SADC region linked to the owner and worker details as these are captured. The drop down lists below allow you to move through the details of a mine either through the owning company or the operation itself. Reports provide concise summaries of the information on companies and operations and can be printed or emailed from the site.

The purpose of this manual is to introduce you to the navigation and features that you will see and use while using the Mine Mapping Tool.

Common Screen Elements The LRS Mine Mapping Tool is designed so that certain elements remain constant throughout the entire application. These elements include, but are not limited to the colours of the screens and where information is located on the screens.

Menu Bar The Menu Bar is located at the top of your screen. The menu bar contains the command buttons used to navigate screen- by-screen through the application.

Breadcrumb navigation bar The breadcrumb navigation bar is a navigation aid used in the Mine Mapping Tool to allow users to keep track of their locations while navigating mine information. The term comes from the trail of breadcrumbs left by in the popular fairytale. The breadcrumb trail appears horizontally across the top of a web page, below the menu bar. It provides links to related pages to the current one.

For example, if the user is viewing company information (Anglo American Platinum), the breadcrumb navigation bar displays links to:

 Home - Go to the home page  View All Companies - View a list of all the Companies loaded in the Mime Mapping Tool  View Operations - View all the operations linked to the Company  View regional offices – View a list of regional offices of this company

Title Header The Title Header is located below the breadcrumb navigation bar. The Title Header displays information about the current page.

Application Work Area The application work area is located in the center of the screen below the Menu Bar and Breadcrumb trail. It has a white background. It is the area of the screen where application activity is performed such as viewing information or selecting links to other areas of the application.
