Seller Insight

Occupying a picturesque rural location deep in the Worcestershire countryside is Long Barn, an extremely attractive Grade II listed barn conversion that forms part of a small farmstead development. “After retiring from my job as managing director of a large property development company, rather than spend my time twiddling my thumbs, I decided to join forces with a friend of mine and embark on a new project,” says Roy. “We bought this collection of characterful old barns that sit in this glorious location, and decided to transform them into beautiful family homes. In fact, I was so taken with the finished articles that my wife and I decided to make Long Barn – one of just five properties within the development – our home.”

“The barn is absolutely gorgeous both inside and out, and although through the process of conversion it’s been brought right up to modern standards, it still retains a great deal of its original character and charm. There are some lovely features such as the beautiful old beams and the huge brick fireplace in the living room – which is not only a stunning focal point but also creates a really cosy atmosphere when the fire is roaring away. However, the modern farmhouse-style kitchen and stylish bathrooms add a touch of luxury, and behind the scenes we’ve added technology including underfloor heating as well as an environmentally friendly air source heat exchanger that provides all the heating and hot water. The rooms are all nicely proportioned and the layout in the main living areas flows exceptionally well. In short, it’s a really lovely home, and my wife and I have enjoyed every minute of our time here.”

“One of the reasons we chose this particular barn was its position within the development. It’s very peaceful and the views from our garden are just magnificent; apart from the church way off in the distance, it’s just rolling farmland for as far as the eye can see. The garden itself has been beautifully landscaped and it’s as pretty as a picture. It incorporates open lawns, beautiful plants including over one hundred rose bushes, an attractive water feature and a lovely big patio where we can sit and enjoy that gorgeous outlook. The garden is definitely something we’ll really miss when we leave.”

“The whole house is lovely but one of our favourite areas is the main bedroom suite. The bedroom itself is very large and features some fabulous beams, and there’s also a sizeable bathroom and a dressing room. It also has a window that faces out towards the views and that’s a lovely place to sit on a warm summer’s evening.”

“The location is to die for. We’re surrounded by a stunning patchwork of rolling farmland, and the site is slightly elevated so we’re afforded the most magnificent countryside views. It’s both peaceful and private but there are good road and rail links nearby, and we can be right in the city centre of Worcester in only twenty minutes.”

“Just across from the house we’ve had a triple garage built with an office above. It’s fantastic for those needing to work from home but it also has the potential to be converted into a super self-contained annexe.”

“My wife and I have decided that the time is right to downsize, but we’re going to be very sad to leave Long Barn,” says Roy. “We’ll miss the house, the garden, those views and the superb sense of community within the development. It’s been a wonderful place to call home.”*
