Records Database for Para-Athletics Welcome to the official AA National Records Database for Para-Athletics Whilst we endeavour to monitor performances of known athletes through results, not all records will be identified. It is the responsibility of the individual athlete/coach to inform their MA if a record has been broken, complete the records claim form and submit these via the AA Record Application Portal within 28 days of the record being broken. Record claim forms are available to download on the Athletics Australia website or links below. Records: Records set at Athletics Australia National Open and Age events will be processed automatically. Records set at WPA International Benchmark Events will be processed automatically. Records set at others times will require claim forms including all details. Records will be updated twice each calendar year. (January/February and again in June/July). Following an amendment to the AA Implement Weights and National Age Grouping Structure the following two actions will occur; 1. The existing U16 & U18 Para Age Records will be frozen as at the 31/07/2020. Frozen records are listed in red. 2. AA will begin accepting U15 & U17 Para Age Records. U15 and U17 records have been recognised where a pre-existing U16 or U18 record has been determined as eligible based on the athletes D.O.B at the time the record was achieved. Age Ruling: Note: For all Athletics Australia (AA) events and records underage eligibility is determined by the athlete's age at the completion of the calendar year in which the event is occurring. Eg: For an athlete to compete or claim an Under 17 record in 2020 they must not be turning 17 during the 2020 calendar year. Classification Ruling: Athletes with a National/International Classification Review status (of the same year or earlier) for which the record is achieved are inelligible to claim records. An exception is made for T/F20 athletes who are allocated in international review status following confirmed national classification. T/F20 International Review athletes may claim records. Australian Records set by Australian athletes anywhere in the World, meeting all recognsied criteria. Underage Records must meet specific criteria, including classification requirements and correct implement weights. Wind readings must be provided where applicable for sprints and jumps. Records set on grass at Little Athletics Meets will not be accepted. On arrival, we were entertained by the NZ Airforce band while the many waiting staff roamed the grounds with trays of various beverages and delightful finger food. Major Willis Howell from The Salvation Army opened the proceedings with a prayer before The Governor General, Her Excellency The Rt Hon Dame Patsy Reddy took to the podium to issue her Waitangi Day address. Her speech was interesting and intricately woven. Dame Patsy had at one time been a Negotiator for the Crown in the Treaty Settlement process. Her knowledge and references to the history of Māori and Pākehā relationships which led to the creation of our founding Treaty documents signing and the years of struggle that ensued were honest, insightful and well worth listening to and reflecting on.

    NSW shines in Paralympic medal tally 30 September 2008 Premier Nathan Rees today congratulated New South Wales’ Paralympic athletes who returned from Beijing with an impressive 48 medals. The Premier said we should all be proud of the 37 athletes from NSW who contributed to Australia’s final tally of 79 medals. “Not only are they world class athletes but they are outstanding role models for us all,” Mr Rees said. “NSW athletes returned with 16 gold, 18 silver and 14 bronze medals,” he said. The Paralympic team featured two of New South Wales’ Don’t DIS my ABILITY ambassadors – Athletics gold medallist Kurt Fearnley from Carcoar and Beacon Hill medal- winning cyclist Lindy Hou. “As ambassadors, Kurt Fearnley and Lindy Hou spread the message that people with a disability can lead everyday lives,” Mr Rees said. “They – like their team mates returning from Beijing – are an inspiration to others. “Every person who competed in the Paralympics returns to Australia a winner and an ambassador for people with a disability. “Their hard work, sacrifice and determination have been rewarded as they compete with the best athletes in the world.” Minister for Disability Services Paul Lynch said the Paralympians were an inspiration to the State’s 1.3 million people living with a disability. “People with a disability can do anything – the efforts of our Paralympians are proof of that,” Mr Lynch said. Minister for Sport and Recreation Kevin Greene said the New South Wales Institute of Sport had played a role in supporting the 36 athletes. “The Institute has been part of the Paralympic journey, providing scholarships and programs to give our athletes the support they need to perform to their capacity on the world stage,” Mr Greene said.
