BIOGRAPHY OF TERRACYCLE EUROPE, GENERAL MANAGER LAURE CUCURON

Laure Cucuron is the General Manager of TerraCycle Europe, a global leader in the collection and repurposing of otherwise non-recyclable post-consumer and post-industrial waste. In 21 countries, TerraCycle creates national platforms to recycle products and packaging that currently go to landfill or incineration, in collaboration with the world’s largest brands (e.g. BIC, JDE, P&G) and retailers (e.g. Tesco, Carrefour),

Through TerraCycle, Laure is pioneering a new process across TerraCycle’s 12 European markets (UK, (ROI), , , , , , the , , , and ) in a period of real innovation and exciting growth for the business. This process involves manufacturers, retailers, governments and consumers, to create circular solutions for materials such as food packaging, laboratory waste, coffee capsules, waste and even beach plastics that otherwise have no other path to be recycled

In January 2019, TerraCycle, along with 25 top consumer products companies and retailers announced a new e-commerce shopping platform called Loop that will enable consumers to shop for some of their favorite brands in durable, . Loop launched in May 2019 launched in both Paris where Carrefour is the official retail partner and also New York. Loop is a key step in helping to end the epidemic of waste that is caused by 'single use' consumption and support companies in transitioning to a circular model and moving from disposability to durability. Loop is scheduled to launch in the UK in the coming months in partnership with retail leader Tesco.

Laure graduated with a Master’s degree in Marketing & Management from the Toulouse Business School (TBS) in 2012. After working in the cosmetics industry at Yves Rocher and retail agency Saguez & Partners in Paris, Laure moved to London and accepted a position working for TerraCycle Europe, first focusing on the commercial development of the French business.

Since then Laure has worked across most areas of TerraCycle’s business, firstly in business development and operations before becoming country lead for France, then managing business development across all European markets. During this period, Laure significantly grew TerraCycle’s portfolio of partners thrived in this new European wide role and consistently hit and redefined the sales targets for the business. In 2016 she also played an important role in helping formalise the groundbreaking partnership with the leading waste and water company SUEZ, who purchased 30% of TerraCycle France, UK, Sweden, Belgium and the Netherlands.

In July 2017, Laure was the natural choice to become General Manager for TerraCycle Europe. In this role she is managing all TerraCycle’s European operations and deals closely with a wide range of parties including senior executives at major FMCG companies, governmental and public organisations, waste management companies, charity organisations.

Laure grew up in the French Pyrenees (and is fluent in French, English and Spanish) and her strong connection with nature and interest in sustainability (also stimulated by readings such as the Cradle to Cradle manifesto) motivated her choice to engage in projects and organisations which look applying circularity to businesses and work for a company whose purpose is to deliver a positive impact on the planet and communities.

Laure defines herself as a person of action and conviction, passionate about what she does. She strongly believes in the people’s empowerment through local environmental, educational and social actions and in the power of businesses to make a positive change in the world. She is a firm believer that we can all “be the change we want to see in the world” and in her chosen career at TerraCycle she doing exactly that by empowering people and companies to rethink our approach to business and eliminate the idea of waste.
