The project, Jensen's only opportunity to create an entirely new large park in Chicago, represents the culmination of years of his conservation efforts and design experimentation. Appointed as West Park Commission General Superintendent and Chief Landscape Architect in 1905, Jensen re-designed Humboldt, Garfield, and Douglas Parks and began creating small parks such as Eckhart and Dvorak. After losing political support in 1910, he shifted his role to consulting landscape architect. Two years later, the commissioners acquired 144 acres of farmland at the western boundary of Chicago. They named the new park for Christopher Columbus (c. 1451-1506), the famous Italian explorer who "discovered" America while in the service of Spain. Jensen's vision for Columbus Park was inspired by the unimproved site's natural history and topography. Convinced that it was an ancient beach, Jensen designed a series of berms, like glacial ridges, encircling the flat interior part of the park.

Jointly prepared by the NALC and the Postal Service, the narrative portions of the manual explain how the contract should be applied based on national level grievance settlements, arbitration awards, and agreements. One copy has been provided to your delivery unit for the use of both the NALC and management. It should be accessible to both at all times. When a dispute arises, you should go to the JCAM first to see if the issue in dispute is addressed. If the issue is addressed in the JCAM, any dispute should be resolved in accordance with that guidance. Please replace prior editions of the JCAM with the enclosed 2021 edition.     NFL TO HOST COMMUNITY EVENTS ACROSS CHICAGO THROUGHOUT KICKOFF WEEK Huddle for 100 Continues in Chicago with ‘Huddle Up to Play it Forward’ In the lead up to the Green Bay - Chicago Kickoff game in Chicago on Thursday, the NFL will host a series of community and service events to celebrate the start of the league’s centennial season. From citywide efforts to make the community greener and cleaner to character-building initiatives, the NFL will leave a lasting impact on the city of Chicago and throughout Illinois. Members of the community will be able to participate in these activities and experience the excitement as the 100th season kicks off in their city. Throughout the week, volunteers and NFL Legends will participate in events designed to give back to Chicago. The NFL will host its third national huddle, HUDDLE UP TO PLAY IT FORWARD as part of the NFL’s Huddle for 100 campaign. The campaign is the NFL’s season- long initiative to get 1 million people to donate 100 minutes of their time with the goal being 100 million minutes volunteered by Super Bowl LIV. As part of Huddle Up to Play It Forward, there will be a DOUGLAS PARK CLEAN UP event where 300 volunteers alongside NFL COMMISSIONER ROGER GOODELL and CHICAGO MAYOR LORI LIGHTFOOT will participate in a revitalization project at Douglas Park, which spans an estimated 80 acres.
