Personal Statement

Budgets have been cut back, and there are constant threats of further cuts, but the production from Wales remains consistently as innovative as ever.

Wales is a small country, but its output is large. We should be proud of the achievements of our programs and movies at local, national and international levels. The accessibility of our products, now more than ever with series such as and Y Gwyll/Hinterland appeal beyond the border. Our product is not only a television brand, but a brand that continues through online conversations after it has been seen.

When I joined my first job was with Media sales and marketing products for and I loved every minute in writing press releases and thinking of ways to be able to appeal and demand the attention of viewers. That passion has continued over the years and appealing to HENO’s grassroots viewers is a priority. We need to ensure that the viewer feels ownership of the content to ensure growth as viewing patters change quickly and more and more localisation is required by out audience. The era of depending on viewers ' goodwill ' is over, as TV viewing is now second to mobile phones and tablets, so we must work tirelessly to ensure coverage and to maintain interest.

BAFTA Cymru is the ' shop window ' of our products and the culmination of hundreds of individuals who work tirelessly for the benefit of the industry that is constantly changing, for better for worse.
