December 9, 2020

Dear Healthcare Providers,

During this Christmas season, we have much to be grateful for. Though COVID-19 has changed each of our lives in one way or another, it has given us the opportunity to reflect and appreciate all we have to be thankful for, including health, friends and family.

The last nine months have been trying for Utahns and our state. At the start of 2020, our economy was thriving and Utahns’ health was not under attack. Then everything came to an abrupt halt as COVID-19 reached our state’s borders.

As the worldwide pandemic continues, many have taken cover to stay safe from the virus. However, taking cover is not an option for those fighting on the frontline – healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and other essential staff.

In and across the nation, women and men stood up in the face of COVID-19 and braved the dangers to tend to the needs of strangers. Not only did each of you tend to those suffering from COVID-19 in our state, but when other states needed help, you answered the call. Today, each of you are still answering the call as Utah experiences high numbers of COVID-19 cases.

We express our deepest gratitude and thanks for your service, sacrifice and dedication. Your work has saved and continues to save countless lives. You are the heroes of 2020.

We believe brighter days are ahead. With the assurance of a vaccine in the near future, we look forward with hope. Now, more than ever, we are grateful to be Utahns and are thankful for how healthcare workers in our state have and continue to pull together during this challenging time.

We mourn with those who lost loved ones and pray for everyone battling COVID-19 and any other illnesses or challenges. Our country has overcome many hardships, and we believe COVID-19 will be another obstacle we will overcome and learn from.

This holiday season, at the close of an incredibly challenging year, we express our gratitude and thanks for all you do. We wish each of you a happy and safe holiday season and hope you make cherished memories to remember for years to come. We will get through this and find that our best days are still ahead of us.

Sincerely,
