She was the fourth of the new B- class ships to be delivered with her sisters Baroda, Barala, Bankura, Bandra, Barpeta , and Bamora . 24.06.1914: Takeover of British India Steam Navigation Company by The Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company agreed. 09.1914: Taken up as an Indian Expeditionary Force transport. 10.1914: Part of the third major convoy from India. 11.1914: Involved in the landings at Tanga, her troops providing small-arms covering fire from her decks during the withdrawal. She then acted as an ambulance transport to Mombassa. 1914/1918: Remained on transport duty on the East African coast. 06.1919: Released from transport duty. 08.1939/ She was taken up as an Armament Stores Issuing Ship. 12.1939: 03.1940: Joined the Liner Division. 1942: Spent eight months as a Personnel and Military Store Ship. 12.1942: Became a Mechanical Transport Ship. 26.04.1949: Sold for £10,500 to British Iron & Steel Co for breaking up. 07.1949: Broken up by Clayton & Davie Ltd in Dunston-on-Tyne. - ends - BI 1914/0624 .
