A Message from our Founder and Director

Welcome friends and families!

This year’s theme, Discover Down Under, found us researching time: the past, the future, and the moments that make up our lives. I found myself singing Jim Croce’s song "Time in a Bottle” - "If I could save time in a bottle, the first thing that I’d want to do, is to save every day till eternity passes away just to spend them with you." Children have an innate ability to enrich time, to see it as inconsequential, in exchange for living in the here and now. In Australia, Aboriginal children learn Dreamtime stories from their elders. Dreamtime - the “time before time”, where creation began; a space where our dreams and reality interweave; animals and people transform, earth and sky con- nect. Time is not spent but felt. Children do this. They feel the earth as they roll, the sky as they spin. They see the world in the smallest of bugs and the grandest of grown- ups. We, the elders, have a responsibility to children not just to protect and nurture, but to keep alive their wisdom. We do so by listening to their opinions and ideas. We help them to do “great work,” through art, writings, and the magic of play. Time is a value to all who work with children, as it is to the children themselves. I hope you will join me tonight in keeping Creative Children’s Center growing. A school that celebrates children! Let’s grab some time, add in some dreams, and shake it up with pleasure! By supporting CCC we acknowledge a child's right to dream and thank them for their wisdom!

Let’s have some fun!! Lucy Chaillé CCC Director 6

Dreamtime

What does dreamtime mean? “ The first people who dream of what the world will be. A kind of country where they dream...in your head you think of something.” - Kellen

“What it used to be like when the aborigines used to be.” - Minna

“It happens when you’re dreaming. You like walking around in your head and there's pictures in your head. They show you walking around.” - Jaylen

“We dream of princesses” - Saldon

“Back in the first time of earth only the people...not many people...only a couple....it means like where people dreamed what it would be like in the earth. The dreamed how Earth would be different.” - Maria

“Maybe back in old times they were sleeping and spaceships dreamed of the world and the world came.” - Gabe

“Dreamed about going to the desert, looking at dinosaurs. They went with their swords and sticks to put them in the museum.” - Daniel

Raise the Paddle

Tonight we are introducing the Maggie May Williams Fund for Financial Assistance. During the Live Auction everyone will be asked to raise their paddle high to honor Maggie and to launch her fund. Maggie’s Fund will provide tuition assistance to children that may need financial aid while attending Creative Children’s Center. Named to honor a very special little friend who joined the CCC family in 2004 at the age of two. Tragically Maggie lost her life to leukemia, but will forever be remembered by all as a spunky, spirited child who gave life its all! Maggie May loved school and the school loved her. From messy projects to the silly friends, from the singing and dancing to laughter and tears, the school and Maggie were pals. Tonight’s fund opens the door to families in need of support ,be it short-term assistance or long-term aid. Maggie would have wished that every child would have the opportunity to feel the joy, laughter and love of her school. Please raise your paddle high as we give the gift of education to deserving students and Dinner Menu

Auction Rules

How To Bid Every person receives a bid number upon registering at the check-in table on auction night. Only registered bidders may participate in the auction. To bid on a silent auction or super silent item, clearly write your name and bid number on the bid sheet located next to the item. The bid amount needs to be at least the mini- mum amount listed at the top of the bid sheet. Subsequent bids must be in increments of the stated minimum raise amount. Items in the silent and super silent auction also have a guaranteed bid. The first bidder to fill in the guaranteed bid amount wins. The guaranteed bid supersedes any other bidding. To sign up for a hosted party, clearly write you name and bid number on a ticket from the Party Board. Put the ticket back in the pocket. Take the reminder slip for your re- cords. You may reserve as many spaces as you want for a specific party as long as there is space available. To bid during the live auction, when the auctioneer states a bid amount, raise your number high to bid that amount until the auctioneer acknowledges your bid. If multiple people raise their cards, the bid will go to the person the auctioneer sees first. The auctioneer will determine when to end the bidding. The highest bid wins. The proceeds from tonight support our annual budget which keeps tuition cost down and allows us to make improvement to the facilities and classrooms. Thank you for keeping us strong!

If You Win The winning bidder for a silent auction item is the person who has entered the highest written bid at closing time for the item. The closing time for each silent auction table is posted and announced. Upon the closing of a silent auction table, an auction volunteer will identify the winning bid for each item. This person has the final authority to deter- mine the winning bid and their decision is final. The winner will be highlighted on the carbon-copy bid sheet taped to the table . If you are the winner of an item in the live auction, the auctioneer will announce your bid number as the bid winner. Copyright Notice Copyright notice: No items may be reproduced, copied or duplicated without prior approval of Creative Children’s Center staff, council and executive board. CCC retains the copyrights to all original paintings, artwork, and projects created by the staff and students at Creative Children’s Center. 13
