5 Tottenham Hotspur - PSV Eindhoven Tuesday 6 November 2018 - 21.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit Wembley Stadium, London Match background

Tottenham and PSV are both running out of time in Group B as they meet again in north London still searching for a first win in this season's UEFA Champions League. • A 2-2 draw in Eindhoven on matchday three proved little use to either side in their hopes of reaching the round of 16. Goals from Lucas Moura and Harry Kane put Spurs in front after Hirving Lozano's 30th-minute opener for PSV, only for Luuk de Jong to snatch a point three minutes from time after Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had been sent off. • With both teams having already been beaten by Barcelona and Internazionale, that left them with one point apiece, five adrift of second-placed Inter and eight behind Barça. That means both Spurs and PSV will be unable to finish in the top two if they fail to win on matchday four and Inter are victorious at home to Barcelona in the other game. Previous meetings • Before matchday three the sides had met in only one previous tie, in the last 16 of the 2007/08 UEFA Cup. Each won 1-0 away, PSV emerging triumphant in London before Spurs turned the tables in Eindhoven – but it was the Dutch club who had the last laugh, going through 6-5 on penalties. Form guide Tottenham • Spurs followed their opening 2-1 defeat at Inter – when they had led until the 86th minute – with a 4-2 loss at home to Barça on matchday two, their heaviest home defeat in the UEFA Champions League and joint heaviest in Europe. • Third in last season's Premier League, Tottenham are in the group stage for the fourth time – and the third season in a row. • Spurs got to the round of 16 in 2017/18, losing to Juventus. Tottenham drew the away first leg 2-2 – having been 2-0 down – but went out after a 2-1 reverse at Wembley. This season's results mean they are without a win in five European fixtures, losing three in a row – including the last two at Wembley – before drawing in the Netherlands. • Mauricio Pochettino's side won all three home games in last season's group stage, against Borussia Dortmund, Real Madrid and APOEL. Before beating Dortmund on matchday one they had won just one of their previous five European home fixtures. • The London club's last home game against visitors from the Netherlands ended in a 4-1 defeat of Twente in the 2010/11 group stage. That 2008 defeat by PSV is Spurs' sole home reverse against Dutch clubs (W3 D3). • Tottenham's most successful UEFA Champions League campaign came in 2010/11, when they reached the quarter- finals. PSV • The champions went down 4-0 at Barcelona in their opening Group B fixture – their joint heaviest UEFA Champions League defeat – before being beaten 2-1 at home by Inter on matchday two. • The Eindhoven club claimed their 24th Dutch league title in 2017/18 – the third time in four seasons they have lifted the Eredivisie crown. • This is PSV's 16th season in the group stage – more than any other Dutch side. They qualified by beating Belarusian champions BATE Borisov 6-2 on aggregate in the play-offs (3-2 away, 3-0 home). • The first-leg win at BATE ended a ten-game run without a European away win for PSV (D4 L6). • The Eindhoven club failed to win a game in their last group appearance, in 2016/17 (D2 L4), and have not won in their last 11 UEFA Champions League fixtures, group stage to final (D5 L6). • Their last away win in the UEFA Champions League proper was a 1-0 success at CSKA Moskva in November 2007. Their record since then is D3 L8. • PSV's 2017/18 European campaign lasted only one tie – they lost 1-0 home and away to Croatian club Osijek in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round. • European Cup winners in 1988, PSV have reached the UEFA Champions League knockout stage only four times – most recently in 2015/16, when they got to the last 16. • PSV drew 0-0 at Manchester United in the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League group stage, their last visit to England. They have won only once in their last nine away games against Premier League clubs (D3 L5). Links and trivia • PSV coach Mark van Bommel and Spurs boss Pochettino were both Barcelona-based in 2005/06, playing for Barcelona and Espanyol respectively.

Latest news Tottenham • Winners at Wolves on Saturday evening, when they held on to win 3-2 after being three goals up, Spurs' previous three Premier League matches had all finished 1-0 – wins against Cardiff and West Ham and a home defeat by Manchester City on 29 October. • Juan Foyth made his first Premier League appearance at Wolves, playing 90 minutes and conceding two penalties. • Mauricio Pochettino's side have managed just four clean sheets in 16 matches in all competitions this season. • Spurs reached the League Cup quarter-finals with a 3-1 win at West Ham on 31 October, Heung-Min Son (2) and Fernando Llorente scoring their first club goals since 11 March and 28 February respectively. • Tottenham will travel to north London rivals Arsenal in the last eight in the week starting 17 December. • Mousa Dembélé limped off with an ankle injury seven minutes into the match at Wolves. • Dele Alli was out between 26 September and 29 October with a hamstring injury, and missed the Wolves game at the weekend. On 30 October, the England international signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2024. • Jan Vertonghen sustained a hamstring injury in the 2-0 win at Huddersfield on 29 September and is expected to be out until December. • Eric Dier picked up a thigh injury in the City defeat. Danny Rose has been out since 6 October with a groin strain. • Victor Wanyama damaged his left knee in the League Cup win against West Ham. PSV Eindhoven • On 4 August PSV lost on penalties to Feyenoord in the Johan Cruijff Schaal after a goalless 90 minutes at their own ground in Eindhoven. • PSV have won all 11 Eredivisie matches this season. The 2-1 win at Groningen on 27 October ended a run of five successive clean sheets in the league, and was the first goal they had conceded since 1 September. They kept another clean sheet on Saturday, beating Vitesse 1-0. • Luuk de Jong, who scored the weekend winner, has four goals in his last four games. • The 7-0 defeat of Den Haag on 15 September was PSV's biggest win since 2 February 2013 – another success against Den Haag by the same scoreline. • The 6-0 defeat of Emmen on 20 October made Mark van Bommel the first PSV coach to win his first nine league matches, surpassing the record of Eric Gerets, whose side won their first eight Eredivisie matches in 1999/2000. • On 30 October PSV were knocked out of the Dutch Cup in the round of 32, losing 3-2 after extra time to second division RKC Waalwijk. • Summer signing suffered a cruciate knee injury in late August, two weeks after signing from Zwolle; he has not been included in the UEFA Champions League squad.

10 Tottenham Hotspur - PSV Eindhoven Tuesday 6 November 2018 - 21.00CET (20.00 local time) Match press kit Wembley Stadium, London Head coach Mauricio Pochettino Date of birth: 2 March 1972 Nationality: Argentinian Playing career: Newell's Old Boys, Espanyol (three times), Paris Saint-Germain, Bordeaux Coaching career: Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham • A tough-tackling central defender, Pochettino was a product of Newell's Old Boys in Argentina where he briefly played with the legendary Diego Maradona during his five years in the senior squad. • He moved to Europe in 1994 to join Spanish side Espanyol and won the Copa del Rey in 2000, before joining Paris in January 2001. After a stint at Bordeaux, returned to Espanyol, initially on loan, before hanging up his boots in 2006 having won another Copa del Rey. Capped 20 times by Argentina, appearing in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. • Switched to coaching with Espanyol in January 2009, with the club lying third from bottom in the Spanish Liga; guided them to a tenth-placed finish. Under Pochettino, three further mid-table finishes followed before a slow start to 2012/13 prompted his departure. • Surprisingly resurfaced in England at Southampton in January 2013, succeeding Nigel Adkins; introduced a high- pressing, attacking style which helped the club keep clear of relegation trouble. In his first full season in charge, took Saints to eighth position with 56 points – a new club record. • Appointed Tottenham manager on a five-year contract in May 2014, and led the side to the English League Cup final in his debut campaign, only to lose out to Chelsea. The following season, 2015/16, Pochettino's side were in contention to win the club's first league title since 1961 until a draw at Chelsea with two games to go; nevertheless finished third to book a UEFA Champions League return, and finished a place higher, as Premier League runners-up, in 2016/17, before claiming third spot again the following season. Mark van Bommel Date of birth: 22 April 1977 Nationality: Dutch Playing career: Fortuna Sittard, PSV Eindhoven (twice), Barcelona, Bayern München, AC Milan Coaching career: Netherlands Under-17s (assistant), Saudi Arabia (assistant), PSV Eindhoven (youth), Australia (assistant), PSV Eindhoven • Born in the province of Limburg in south-east Netherlands, Van Bommel spent seven seasons with local club Fortuna Sittard, making his debut at 16, before joining PSV in 1999, when he was named Dutch talent of the year. • The tough-tackling midfielder won the Eredivisie title in his first two seasons, skippering PSV to the second of those triumphs and two further titles, the second of which, in 2004/05, was accompanied by victory in the Dutch Cup, a run to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League and his election as Dutch footballer of the year for the second time. • In 2005 joined Frank Rijkaard's Barcelona and helped the Catalan club win the Liga and UEFA Champions League in his only season before leaving for Bayern. Won German league and cup doubles in 2007/08 and 2009/10, Bayern reaching the UEFA Champions League final in the latter campaign, before he moved to AC Milan, where he was a Serie A champion in 2011, claiming his eighth league title in 12 years. • Ended his playing career in 2013 following a season back at PSV – he was sent off in his final appearance – having won 79 caps for the Netherlands, appearing at the FIFA World Cup in 2006 and 2010, the latter under Bert van Marwijk – Van Bommel's father-in-law – when the Dutch reached the final. Retired from international football after captaining the side at UEFA EURO 2012. • Started his coaching career in January 2014 as assistant to Maarten Stekelenburg with the Netherlands' Under-17 side, before two years working alongside Van Marwijk with the Saudi Arabia national side. Took charge of PSV's U19 side in April 2017 and, after acting as Van Marwijk's assistant with Australia at the 2018 World Cup, succeeded as PSV head coach that June.
