May Meet ing Schedule

Board Meeting Saturday, May 27,

2017 General Manager's Corner 9:00 a.m.

THE LAKER, MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND EDITION, 2017 Sewer District Meeting (immediatel y following

Board Meeting)

FITNESS ROOM

We are proud of the major improvements we were able to achieve for this facility, which seems to be achieving greater utilization than ever Upcomin before. We have greatly improved the HVAC for the room and have g Events achieved a more satisfactory overall temperature for our patrons. We "Welcome continue to make our pleas to not tamper with the TV Audio and to to rely on the closed captioning and mobile apps In order to provide the Summer most acceptable noise environment for the most patrons. In making Bonfire" May 27, these decisions, we reach out to our Board, committees, and regional 2017 and national industry sources. Please help us to make your 7:30 p.m. experience here as pleasant as possible for all.

Pancake RESTAURANT Breakfast Sunday,

May 28, Kudos to Charlene and Ed! Their launch of a limited-hours restaurant 2017 operation in the Clubhouse during the off season was very warmly 8:30-11:00 a.m. received, and we look forward to their continued success with it and the opportunity to bring members of our community together in such a Stone nice venue so close to home. We feel that this offering helps us better Painting utilize our Clubhouse and also realize that with this additional activity Sunday, we will need to be more creative in how the various indoor and May 28, 2017 outdoor spaces of the Clubhouse are used by different resident 10:00-11:30 groups and to be better communicators about how the Clubhouse is a.m. being used, so as to maximize everyone’s enjoyment and convenience and to minimize any conflict. Please also bear in mind that our Clubhouse is set to operate up to and be closed and secured by 10:00 PM; try not to be late, so the Clubhouse and grounds work harmoniously for residents and staff alike.

BOATSLIPS/RACKS

By Memorial Day, we will advise the community as to generally what spaces remain un-reserved, and take additional reservations on a first come basis.

Our desire as an Association is to provide as much benefit as possible to as many members as possible. At this time, that means utilizing the resources in slips, racks, and shoreline tie-ups as broadly as possible among our members. Rest assured, however, that we are evaluating the feasibility of increasing our capacity to meet excess demand. You will already notice new racks in different locations. We appreciate your patience, and stay tuned.

MAINTENANCE

All around you will see the finishing touches being done to our amenities, buildings and grounds, including Swimming Pool, Tennis Courts, Landscaping, Beach Sand and detailing, and much more. We are constantly looking for opportunities to raise the bar further, as our budget will allow.

ACTIVITIES

A full complement of Summer Concerts, Youth Activities, and

Swimming opportunities are in place and being fine-tuned. Our Youth Fishing Derby was a huge success with record-breaking attendance and catches. I understand that fishing in general has been living up to

its stellar reputation (Pisces?).

LAKE AND DAM

The jewel in our crown, our unique and beautiful lake, has entered its second year in a 3-year weed and water quality management program being guided by a professional lake management firm. The weed harvester is already active on the water (hard to miss bright yellow), and diver assisted hand pulling of weeds by the roots is about to get underway in targeted locations. We continue to monitor the progress of this program and to look for ways to improve.

SEE YOU THIS SUMMER

In one way or another, your lake experience here, part-time or full- time, is one of your primary means of leaving your hectic work life or personal life behind, to take pause and a deep breath and refresh.

Leave your worries and stresses behind, and come with the attitude that all that Woodridge Lake has to offer is to be considerately shared with the other 800 Members, and that all residents and staff are to be treated with dignity and respect.

Memorial Day Weekend Tennis!

Well, we're only a few days away from Memorial Day Weekend. The tennis staff is really looking forward to another great season at our beautiful lake!

While it's been a very rainy spring, the Har-Tru courts are being set-up this week. As long as the weather cooperates, they will be open this weekend. Please remember to wear flat-soled shoes with non-aggressive treads, as running/hiking style treads damage the court surface. Also, please remember to sweep the court at the end of play, as this keeps the surface playing properly, and prevents costly maintenance down the road. We love our Har- Tru courts, and we'd like them to remain in good shape through the season.

Beloved coach, Jack Sahlman, will be returning for a number of weekends this season. He'll be traveling much of June, but will be on court Sunday and Monday of this weekend, as well as the weekends of July 1st, 8th, 15th, and 23rd. He will then return for the August weekends of the 20th and 27th, and

Labor Day weekend. If you'd like to book lessons with him, you can reach out to Jack directly ([email protected]), or by sending me an email.

But with the good, I must share some bad news (for us, at least). Our fantastic coach Kyle Beynor, was recently offered a coaching job in Sumter, South

Carolina. As a recent graduate of Springfield College, the full-time, year round opportunity was just too good not to take. Fortunately, he will be available at

WL this weekend, and the first two weekends in June. It's fair to say that he will be missed greatly, as his knowledge and teaching ability are rare to find in a coach of his age. We've been lucky to have him on staff, and know that he will be loved in Sumter as well.

With Kyle headed south, I've asked a former teammate of mine to join the staff on the weekends when Jack is not available. Dustin Parente is a former All- State high school player, and top college player. He has coached in

Connecticut and NYC, and will be a great asset for the lake this season. Coach

Patrick and I are looking forward to the the mini high school reunion!

That's all for now, but please keep an eye on your inboxes for future info on this season's programming. We can't wait to see you all on the courts!
