It does not include the res ults ot Geo logical Survey research published in scientific journals; this information is contained in a separate publication issued annually - Abstracts of Publications in Scientific Journals by Officers of the Geological Survey of Canada, GSC Paper 70- 4, 1970 . A complete index of all reports and maps i s provided in:

Index of Publications, Geological Survey of Canada (1845-1958), A. G. Johnston $5 . 00

A new ten year index (1959-1969) is in preparation; when published it will replace the 5 year (1959-1964) index and the annual supplements . All Geological Survey indexes make use of the National Topographie System as a basis for geographic location. - 2 -

Publications issued by the Geological Survey of Canada comprise maps and printed reports. Maps include basic geological maps and special maps such as those dealing with mineral areas, geophysical observations, groundwater, oil and gas, and geochemical studies. Reports are of several categories:

Memoirs - Comprehensive reports on the geology of specific areas.

Bulletins - Detailed scientific studies on any geological or related subject.

Economie Geology Reports - Comprehensive studies of economic inter est on a broad regional basis.

Papers - Designed for the prompt publication of geological informa tion of immediate practical interest.

Requests for geological maps or information on specific areas or topics should be addressed to: Geological Survey of Canada, Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, Ottawa. Requests for specific reports should be addressed to the Geological Survey as above, or to the Queen's Printer, Ottawa. Lists of publications showing geological maps and reports for each province are available without charge. Publications information and sales facilities are available at branch offices of the Geological Survey in Vancouver and Calgary for the convenience of local users.
