EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS ACT EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS RECIPROCITY ORDER AMENDMENT

(Approved by His Honour the Lieutenant Governor in Council dated 19 November 2002.) Pursuant to section 42 of the Employment Standards Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap. E-6.2, Council made the following order:

1. The Employment Standards Act Employment Standards Reciprocity Order (EC810/95) is amended by the addition of the following:

5. (1) The Yukon Territory is declared to be a reciprocating territory for Reciprocating the purpose of the enforcement of orders made under the Employment territory - Yukon Standards Act of that territory.

(2) The Director of Employment Standards of the Yukon Territory is Authority designated as the authority within that territory for the purposes of clause 42(1)(b) of the Employment Standards Act. 2. This Order comes into force on November 30, 2002.

EXPLANATORY NOTES The order adds the Yukon Territory as a reciprocating territory for the purpose of enforcement orders made under the Employment Standards Act of that territory.

LIQUOR CONTROL ACT REGULATIONS AMENDMENT

(Approved by His Honour the Lieutenant Governor in Council dated 19 November 2002.) Pursuant to section 8 of the Liquor Control Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap. L- 14, Council approved the following regulations made by the Prince Edward Island Liquor Control Commission:

1. Sections 84 and 85 of the Liquor Control Act Regulations (EC704/75) are revoked.

2. These regulations come into force on November 30, 2002.

EXPLANATORY NOTES The original intent of the section 84 prohibition was to exclude liquor from educational institutions. The prohibition has become unnecessary. UPEI and Holland College were eventually exempted from the prohibition in a trend that has seen educational institutions evolve into community and cultural facilities. Section 85 becomes redundant for the same reasons.
