Arborist Trainees (The current honorarium on entry is $14,500 per month. The above amount of honorarium and the terms of engagement are subject to changes when the offer of engagement is made. The training honoraria of Arborist Trainees are independent of the civil service pay.)

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must –

(a) be graduates of arboriculture and tree management programmes at Level 3 to Level 5 of the Qualifications Framework in in 2020 or before;

(b) not possess any relevant professional qualifications awarded by professional organisations, such as Certified Arborist, Certified Arborist Utility Specialist, Certified Arborist Municipal Specialist or Board Certified Master Arborist of the International Society of Arboriculture; Technician Member, Professional Member or Fellow Member of the Arboricultural Association of the United Kingdom; European Tree Worker or European Tree Technician of the European Arboricultural Council; General Member of the National Arborists Association of Australia (issued on or before 31 December 2010); Registered Qualified Arborist, Registered Practicing Arborist, Registered Consulting Arborist, Registered Consulting & Practicing Arborist of the Arboriculture Australia; Accredited Arborist of the Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects; or equivalent; and

(c) be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of engagement unless specified otherwise.

Note:

Applicants completed the arboriculture and tree management programmes at Level 3 to Level 5 of the Qualifications Framework in Hong Kong but their graduation certificates have yet been available may also apply. If selected, their engagement will be subject to their provision of supporting documents on or before 12 March 2021 to prove their obtainment of the requisite academic qualification.

1 Duties:

Arborist Trainees will be deployed in the Greening, Landscape and Tree Management Section of the or in tree management departments to receive on-the-job training under the Trainee Programme of the Urban Forestry Support Fund.

Terms of Appointment:

The training period for Arborist Trainees is three years. Arborist Trainees are temporary posts. They are not civil servants and are not appointed on civil service terms and conditions. There is no guarantee for further engagement in the Government after completion of the above engagement.

The completed form together with all supporting documents should reach the enquiry address on or before the closing date for application. The e-mail address and fax number of the applicant, if available, should be provided on the application form. Each application should be accompanied by:

(a) a copy of the Hong Kong Certificate of Examination, certificates of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination, Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination and other public English language examinations (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, GCE, GCSE, HKSARG Common Recruitment Examination, etc.) showing the results achieved in English language in such examinations. Applicants will have to make a declaration on the public English language examinations taken by them, if so required by the recruiting department;

(b) a copy each of all official transcripts showing the results of all examinations leading to the award of the requisite academic qualification; and

(c) a copy of the certificate of the relevant certificate, diploma or degree programme if acquired.

Applications not accompanied by the above documents may not be considered.
