They are current and real, illustrating the growing hazard of child abuse in this supposedly more enlightened time. The National Committee for Prevention of Child Abuse defines child abuse as "an injury or a pattern of injuries to a child that is nonaccidental." 3 It includes damage to a child for which there is no reasonable
