Over 200 students from 15 GUSD schools met to showcase their robo c skills in the spirit of friendly compe on. The goal of the compe on is to provide student-centered ac vi es where children can learn through engagement, explora on, explana on, elabora- on, and evalua on. It is an experience where adults take a back seat to the needs of the students and let the children do the work. The event is also student-centered with respect to the staff . Local high school and college students staff the event and receive community-service hours as well as gain experience in leadership and teamwork. The competition consists of three components, a STEM Presentation, Robot Design, and Robot Performance. The overall champion is the team that demonstrates excellence in all three areas and adheres to the student-centered as- pect of the event.

Special thanks to our guest speaker, Ms. Jen- nifer Rocca, project engineer at JPL’s SPHEREx Mission, designed to explore the origins of the galaxy, and the Glendale Education Founda- tion for supporting our District’s robotics pro- grams and the tournament.
