Every year Russian museums visit more than 80 million visitors, 1/3 of who are visitors under 18 There are about 650 individual and institutional members in ICOM Russia. These impressions were constructed from a field study conducted between the 23th and 27th March 2015 by students of MSc in Regional & Urban Planning Studies. The MSc Regional & Urban Planning Studies is a strongly focused and internationally based planning programme that has a long tradition in training both people seeking careers in urban and regional planning policy and mid-career professionals. In conversation with forty-five first- and second-generation Russian intellectuals who relocated from Russia and the former Soviet Union, the researcher investigates transnational Russian identity through ethnographic, auto-ethnographic, and visual anthropology methods. Educated migrants from Russia who shared with the researcher a comparable epistemic universe and experiential perspective, and who were themselves experts on migration, discuss what it means to belong to global transnational diasporas, how they position themselves in historical contexts of migration, and what they hope to contribute to modern intellectual migrant narratives. -

Introduction In recent decades, there has been increasing interest in the House of Romanov. An almost total absence of information on the life and activities of the members of this dy- nasty during the Soviet period led to an explosion of interest in this theme after the col- lapse of the USSR. In the post-Soviet period, a stream of literature about the Romanov dynasty looded society, focusing on the architects of that time as creators of particular architectural monuments. As a result, during the translation of collective knowledge, information about the role of the monarchs in creating the architectural heritage of St. Petersburg is practically absent. The present article offers an unusual way of looking at St Petersburg. This is the irst in the series of articles entitled “Architectural Chronicle of St Petersburg”, devoted to deining the contribution each monarch made to the development of the city. The aspects relating to the formation of social memory in society and its implications for the future have been suficiently studied in the historical and philosophical sense, therefore, the author of the paper has considered any scientiic insights unnecessary. Of all the approaches scientists have taken in studying heritage, the author is closest to the informative approach proposed by Ya.K. Rebane and further developed by such scientists as V.A. -

On the basis of numerous archival and published materials and data, project ideas and the real history of the formation and development of the historical center of Saint-Petersburg on the Gorodskoy Island (in 1703- 1720), Vasilyevsky Island (in 1721-1730) and on the Admiralteyskaya side (since the 1730s) are considered as stages of gradual crystallization of various spatial concepts of the capital’s development. The structure of the city center that changed over time is revealed. The results of the study: a fairly clear correspondence is shown between the stages of development of spatial and structural ideas and the transfer of the capital’s center to new territories, depending on changes in the state’s prestigious landmarks. 1 Introduction The center of any city is the main administrative, functional, and compositional unit of all urban life. And it largely determines the international and regional significance of the city itself. Especially-the center of such a historical city as Saint-Petersburg. Many researchers from different countries are studying the features of the foundation and development of the centers of historical cities. For historical cities of Western Europe, Ancient Russia, Novgorod and Moscow Russia, such researches were also almost mandatory. The man is Angolan fashion designer Shunnoz Fiel dos Santos; the now-removed statue bore the likeness of Portuguese colonist Paolo Dias de Novais, who claimed the small coastal settlement that became Angola's capitol as São Paulo da Assumpcão de Loanda in 1575. In the 2011 series "Redefining the Power," Angolan artist Kiluanji Kia Henda depicts Fiel atop different vacated pedestals across central Luanda. In Redefining the Power IV, Fiel is wearing a grey one piece outfit with flared trousers, a dark green cap, and long braided dreadlocks down his back. In another, he's reciting poetry wearing bright colors-a green jacket over a red shirt, layers of blue skirts over yellow short pants, and red stockings. In a third, he's dressed in black and purple, holding out the symbol the American musician Prince used as a pseudonym. Henda's photographs use Shunnoz Fiel's sartorial playfulness to pose serious questions about Angola's historical memory- its four centuries of colonial conflict followed by three decades of civil war-and to introduce into public dialogue more inventive and imaginative notions of the nation's future. Henda harnesses and reconfigures the layers of meaning represented by public urban monuments, what Pierre Nora (1989) calls lieux de mémoires ("sites of memory"), and rather than stripping them of affect, repurposes empty pedestals as sites for the public contestation of Angola's future. -
