Chris Arreola Los Angeles Press Conference Quotes Deontay Wilder vs. Chris Arreola Los Angeles Press Conference Quotes LOS ANGELES, CA (June 21, 2016) – Heavyweight world champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder and former title challenger Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola went face-to-face for the first time Tuesday at a Los Angeles press conference for their Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on FOX & FOX Deportes showdown Saturday, July 16 from Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama. Televised coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT and features undefeated welterweight contender Sammy “The Sergeant” Vasquez Jr. taking on former world champion Luis Collazo. Two more hours of boxing on FS1 and FOX Deportes will immediately follow at 10 p.m. ET after the Wilder vs. Arreola fight on FOX. Further details will be announced shortly. Tickets for the event, which is promoted by DiBella Entertainment and TGB Promotions in association with Bruno Event Team, start at only $20 and are on sale now. Live after Wilder had hosted a press conference in Birmingham the week before, that Arreola joined via skype. Here is what the fighters had to say Tuesday: DEONTAY WILDER “This is going to be an exciting fight for everyone. It’s two dangerous heavyweights. Two guys who fight with their hearts. It’s going to be an action-packed fight from beginning to end. “People said Arreola doesn’t deserve the shot, but who are they to say things about a man who every time he gets in the ring, fights with his heart. “I feel like this is a special occasion. It’s a short notice fight. A lot of guys said they would take it, but used the short notice as an excuse. It takes a lot to put together a fight. But when you can get someone who can make the best of this and put on a great show, it’s a job well done. “There’s only one name who can make this be what it is. Every time he steps in the ring, he comes to fight. I think we chose the right person. “This is going to be a great fight for boxing fans. I chose to go back home because of all the travel I did preparing for the Povetkin fight. I’m excited to be in my backyard and have the great support behind me. I won’t crack under the pressure. “The fans will get their money’s worth. It’s two tough and determined fighters who are trying to knock each other’s head off. “This was my longest layoff. I’ve wanted to be an active champion since I won the belt. When one door closes, another one opens. “It’s up to Chris to take advantage of this opportunity. He has his own history that he can make and it will mean a lot to him. “My mentality is to go all out. Everything I say, I really believe. I don’t need anyone to believe in me, because I believe in myself. “I have a guy in front of me who’s trying to stop me from getting to the next level. I promise this is going to be an outstanding fight.” CHRIS ARREOLA “I’m grateful for this opportunity. A lot of people say that I don’t deserve this title fight. A lot of people said Deontay didn’t deserve his title shot. I said that. But when he got it, he made the most out of it. I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. “I’m going to his backyard. I’m fine with people not recognizing me out there. I have been waiting for this for so long and I know many fighters have as well. I want to first off thank FOX and FOX Sports. They are really rolling from one big weekend this past Saturday where we saw a tremendous card in Los Angeles to now a history making weekend in Dallas. This is without doubt the biggest pay-per-view of the year. I mentioned it last week, top to bottom an unreal card of a combined 207 wins against 9 losses when you add up the entire card — 155 of those wins by the way of knockout. So I don’t remember if we ever did a card top to bottom which packed that much of a punch. It really is one of the best pay- per-view cards top to bottom I can remember and we certainly have done some big ones. Today we have Mikey Garcia and Chris Arreola on the call to talk about camp and the excitement of fight week and they will be available for your comments.     Adam Kownacki UDs Chris Arreola In Record Setting Heavyweight Punch-Fest BROOKLYN, NY — Polish-born Brooklyn heavyweight Adam “Babyface” Kownacki upped his perfect record to 20-0, 15KO, earning a hard-fought twelve round unanimous decision against former three-time world title challenger Chris “The Nightmare” Arreola (38-6-1, 33KO) in the main event of a FOX broadcast from the Barclays Center. Judges scores were 118-110 and 117-111 for Kownacki. The fight was fought at a frantic pace for two big men who tipped the scales at a combined 510¼ pounds (Kownacki, 266¼ & Arreola 244). Combined, the two sluggers threw 2,172 punches, landing 667 of them, both CompuBox records for the heavyweight division. Kownacki, 30, wasted no time forcing the action, as he came off his stool firing in the bout’s opening round firing loaded shots that immediately had Arreola retreating. The 6’3” Pole continued to stalk Arreola, who tried to jab his way out of harm’s way. Once that task proved too difficult, Arreola made adjustments, and in the ensuing rounds the 38 year-old Californian began to smother Kownacki, continuously leaning on him and forcing the fight in-close. From round two through twelve, the fight would be fought in- tight, which certainly wore on each fighter as they seemingly gassed midway through each round. Kownacki seemingly landed at will and was more creative with his punches than Arreola, who possibly broke his right hand in the third round. The Pole, who is trained by Keith Trimble, varied his offense, threw uppercuts, short left hooks, and right crosses around Arreola’s guard.

Heavyweight Bridge War: Adamek and Chambers Collide By Gary Purfield When Main Events Promotions and NBC Sports teamed up for the Fight Night series they set out to produce action packed bouts that were evenly matched. So far they have delivered the goods with three cards that did exactly that. They may have their best match yet when Philadelphia's Eddie Chambers crosses the Bridge into Jersey to meet Tomasz Adamek, who was born in Poland but now makes his home in Newark, NJ. They meet in a twelve round heavyweight battle on June 16. While the two perceived undersized heavyweights Chambers and Adamek (undersized for today, in the glory days of Ali and Frazier they would have been normal size big men) were stopped in their bids for the crown to the Klitscko brothers, they are formidable boxers who have plenty to offer. Chambers and Adamek both have speed and boxing skills. They are of relatively the same size so neither will be able to simply bully the other one with height or brute force. What has been produced for June 16 at the Prudential Center is a true heavyweight clash between top talents that is rarely seen in this day and age of boxing's glory division. Chambers (36-2, 18 KO) career is highlighted with wins over Calvin Brock, former champ Samuel Peter, and Alexander Dimitrenko.
