@@ This new model does not preclude the basic concept of one community that worships together, but rather offers one community multiple worship opportunities for individuals and families to participate in their Jewish journeys with like minded Jews.

A survey of almost any Jewish publication, newspaper and magazine reveals a need, across the board, for Jewish Religious organizations to be innovative in the twenty- first century. And now is the time for Kol Rinah to begin the exciting process of innovation. Issues of pluralism, egalitarian worship, the inclusion of interfaith families, single parent and LGBT individuals and families require discussion, acceptance and inclusion.

Jews have survived for millennia because we have had the flexibility to adapt to cultural change while preserving the essence of our tradition. This process of adaptation has likely never been easy, and never been achieved without endless discussion (think of the Talmud!) - but it was achieved. Here we all are thousands of years later faced yet again with the need to adapt our tradition in order to preserve it. I believe we, as two congregations becoming one, are more than capable of making it happen. What about you ? Susan Cort
