Continue Am I the only person who doesn't remember that album trailers were things? I'm still getting used to the idea that people make trailers for books, if you get used to you mean I think they should stop. Album trailers seem like a better idea because at least people are used to watching music videos to go with their favorite singles. The album trailer is just a music video to encapsulate the entire album, isn't it? As if her upcoming album wasn't expecting enough, released an album trailer for Ultraviolence, and it reflects the mood of the record perfectly. The only official single in the album's trailer is her latest track, . Ultraviolence debuted at the concert, but Brooklyn Baby is brand new and completes the trifecta sounds it's incorporating into the album. Admittedly, all three songs are back-to-back, like what just sounds like a typical Del Rey fair, haunting and lilting and slow and sultry, but each one bring something unique to the table even beyond that.Combined with black and white images of Del Rey and friends, looking as ecstatic as they contradict, and all of which makes for the kind of permanalness you just can't look away from. The monochrome settings with minimal and well-time flashes of color serve to make the entire trailer feel more dramatic and noir, which was undoubtedly Del Rey's intention with her music as well. Del Rey's album trailer for Ultraviolence may not be the first album trailer that ever existed, but it certainly has to go there with the greats. Watch the trailer below. Follow the latest daily buzz with buzzFeed Daily Newsletter! Lana Del Rey released the first single from her upcoming album Ultraviolence on Monday morning (via Pitchfork). It's called West Coast and it's as woozy and gorgeous as an LDR song should be. The video (which is technically the only audio version but whatevs) features Lana swirling around on the beach, accompanied by a grungy but kind of hot blonde dude and a herd of hipster seagulls. Ennui hasn't looked so good since Lana last released the video. This content is imported from YouTube. If you haven't heard, the singer, 27, was quoted as saying: For me, the issue of feminism is just not an interesting concept. Whenever people bring up feminism, I'm like, God, I'm just not really interested. I'm more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what will happen to our intergalactic capabilities. A. To the right. However, when the interviewer continued to ask Del Rey how she would define the term feminism, she said: My idea of a true feminist is a woman who feels free enough to do whatever she wants. Of course that speaks to equality, doesn't it? Wouldn't someone advocating for women's freedom also promote equality? Doesn't that make her a feminist? Space talk aside, we're still pretty confused. While activists such as Caitlin Moran, Laura Bates and Caroline Criado-Perez are helping the voice of feminism become stronger, only 42% of British women actually call themselves feminists. So it's disappointing that the very influential kick on the ass of the Grammy-nominated singer doesn't see the issue - and her standing in the public eye - as an opportunity to educate others about what feminism really is - having political, social and economic equality with men. That's not such a big question, is it? Using the platform she was given a ride home as a basic right to all of us. To fight a good fight! Resist discrimination! Instead of dismissing him as not interesting. Sigh. After all, it's not like the two are mutually exclusive - you can still completely dig through space travel and be a feminist. In fact, it's probably pretty bleeding important - NASA didn't pick female astronauts until 1978. (In 1962, NASA wrote to one copycat astronaut, This means that we don't have an existing program for female astronauts, and we don't consider that plan.) Of course, feminism is somehow involved? Double sigh. As Caitlin Moran rightly put it: Do you think that's feminism, ladies? What part of liberation for women is not for you? Is it freedom of voice? The right not to belong to the person you're marrying? Campaign for Pay? Madonna's Vogue? Jeans? Is all that good shit GET ON YOUR NERVES? Quite. Maybe her comments have been misinterpreted, who knows - in any case, we're still confused. But fortunately, just as we were going to bang our heads very loudly on our desks and cry, we came across some wisdom from Keira Knightley: I think it's great that the debate about feminism is finally allowed to have, unlike anyone mentioning feminism and everything happens, 'Oh, f ing shut up. Somehow feminism has become a dirty word. I thought it was really weird for a long time and I think it's great that we're coming out of that,' she said. Now there is a celebrity speaking out for all of us... The record does not yet have a release date, but the artist promises that it will be soon. This is her fifth studio album and the long-awaited sequel to Honeymoon, which was released in 2015. Del Rey has announced the upcoming release with a cryptic trailer that showcases the artist's imaginary life as part of the H Mark Hollywood. The result is a witch-meets-quirky clip, but she talks with a message about why she decided to make new music now, why she's been away for so long, and what the title record means. As she compares the current climate to the dark times and stormy period, we can possibly expect upcoming music to be politically charged. (After all, it's a woman who has joined witches around the world to cast a spell on Donald Trump.) She says: You know, in this city, an artist really needs a lot of space when they're trying to create something special; a place to cultivate your own world, far from the real world that is around them. Luckily for me, I live right in the middle of H in the sign of Hollywood, and that's how I spend most of my night: sitting high above the chaos that swirls in the city of angels below. Now, don't get me wrong: I love to dip into the mud and fun of the city every now and then, especially on Tuesdays, but truthfully, when I'm in the middle of making a record, especially now that the world is in the middle of such a turbulent period, I believe I really need to take space for myself, away from real life, to consider what my contribution to the world should be in these dark times. So every morning I afford the luxury of asking yourself: what will I cook for children today? Something with a little spice? Something with a little bitterness, but Sweet? Or should I take the day off and turn off the fire, and just take a moment to send my love to them through the airwaves? Because sometimes just being pure heart and having good intentions and letting them be known is the most worthy contribution an artist can make. So even if these times may feel a little crazy, they are not so different from what other generations have experienced at one time or another before. Amid all the uncertainty, and as we move from one era to another, there is no place I'd rather be than a straight-dab in the middle of Hollyweird to make this entry for you. Because you, music and this place - my love, my light, my thirst for life. Watch the trailer for the new record below. This content is imported from YouTube.
