CHAPTER 2 – CPSLO TEAM CONTACT DETAILS

The Child Protection Schools Liaison Officers (CPSLO’s) are part of Children’s Services: Quality Assurance, Improvement and Practice. They are based at County Hall in and line managed by the Head of Child Protection.

The role of the team is to support schools to effectively safeguard children from harm, abuse and neglect.

This is in accordance with schools’ responsibilities under:

• Hertfordshire Safeguarding Children Partnership Inter-Agency Child Protection and Safeguarding Children Procedures (electronic) • Education Act 2002 • Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 • Keeping Children Safe in Education 2020

The specific tasks of the team include:

• Devising and delivering stage one and two safeguarding training to whole school groups, Designated Safeguarding Leads for child protection, Head Teachers and Governors

• Supporting and challenging safeguarding arrangements and practice

• Provide consultations as part of the Consultation Hub*

• Contributing to the School Review meetings

• Attending strategy meetings regarding allegations against school staff

• Working closely with schools to develop Risk Assessment Management Plans regarding children or adults who may pose a risk to others within the school community

• Providing supervision to Designated Safeguarding Leads and Head Teachers to support them to reflect on safeguarding practice, reviewing and analysing, where concerns can be raised, and practice improved in their settings.

*Consultations are available by calling the Consultation Hub on 01438 737511. However, where there are clear concerns about risk of immediate harm to a child, a referral should be made to Children’s Services on 0300 123 4043.
