Gold Coast District Club Positions Vacant

The Gold Coast District Cricket Club ('The Dolphins') was formed in 1990 to provide opportunities for local cricketers to play at the elite level of cricket in and strive for representative honours with both Queensland and . We are the only district club in the Gold Coast region and field teams in ’s Premier Cricket Competition (for both men and women). The Dolphins have a number of current Queensland Bulls and Queensland Fire contracted players, while also boasting Australian and Queensland representatives at youth level.

In 2016/17, the club will field 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade teams in the Premier Cricket Competition. Other teams include Under 16s who play in Queensland Cricket’s Lord Taverner’s Competition, two Women’s teams and a Masters team (over 40s). The club boasts a modern clubhouse overlooking the picturesque Bill Pippen Oval at Robina, which is considered to be one of the best cricket facilities in the State.

The club is looking for expressions of interest from people looking to support our cricket program for Season 2016/17.

Training Captain - Men

The Training Captain will assist the Coaching Staff in ensuring training runs smoothly. This could include organising attendees and practice net rotations, but may also include conducting fielding or other fitness drills. The commitment will primarily be weekly on Thursday training nights, however other nights may also be required if availability permits. This position reports to the Head Coach (Men).

Selection Panel Chair – Men & Women (two roles)

The Selection Panel Chair will manage the selection process for each respective cricket program (men and women). They will ensure the implementation of the club’s selection policies and to co-ordinate and lead selection meetings. They will also form part of the selection panel. Commonly, selection meetings are held on a Tuesday evening in the week leading up to the next round of matches and for men, occur every two weeks throughout the season.

Where possible, the Selection Panel Chair should have a cricket background and be able to effectively communicate with coaches and players about the selection process. These positions report to the Management Committee.

Team Managers - Men

As part of the ‘inner circle’, team managers play an important support role across all of our grade teams. Their role is to attend to all of the off-field requirements on match days and make sure our players can concentrate on performing well on the field. Where availability permits, there may be some travel with teams across South East Queensland.

While no cricket experience is required, those with a love of the game will enjoy being up close to some of Queensland and Australia’s best young cricketers. These positions report to the Management Committee.

Cricket Program Manager - Women

The Cricket Program Manager will assist the Head Coach (Women) to manage the Dolphins’ women’s teams. They will play an important role in ensuring the administrative side the women’s program runs smoothly and our venues are set up and ready to host matches. Women’s matches are commonly played on Sundays on a home and away basis. Where availability permits, there may be some travel with teams across South East Queensland.
