 Badges All participants will receive a personal badge upon registration. Participant is kindly requested to wear name badge when attending any meeting or social gathering. Only participants who are wearing their name badge will be admitted to the lecture halls.

 Language The official language is English. No simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

 Presentations All speakers are kindly requested to keep to their allotted time. Each presenter will be given 10 minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for questions and answers. Electronic equipment will be available (laptop and beamer).

 Information for speakers Speakers should prepare presentation in Microsoft Office Power Point 2003, 2007 or 2010 version. Speakers should bring presentations stored on USB memory stick. Presentations must be transferred to laptops at the designated hall during the break prior to the session (not later than 15 minutes before the start of the session).

 Information for poster presenters The poster must be A0 size (841mm x 1189mm) in portrait orientation. Fixing utensils will be available in the Aula. You are not required to bring your own fixing equipment. Presenting authors should print their poster based on the requirements listed above. The Humboldt Kolleg organizers will not print posters on behalf of presenters. Poster session will take place in the Aula of the Rectorate and will be open during entire conference. Discussion with poster presenters is scheduled for Friday, September 21, 2018 from 13:30 to 15:30. We kindly ask poster presenters to stand at or near by their poster during the poster reception. This will allow you the opportunity to talk with other Humboldt Kolleg participants about your poster and answer questions regarding your work. Please hang up your poster on Thursday, September 20 in the morning (from 08:30 to 10:00). Please take down your poster on Saturday, September 22 in the afternoon (from 15:00 to 15:30). Posters which are not taken down in this period will be removed and discarded.

 Airport transfer All participants will have organized transfer to/from airport. At the EXIT of the Airport driver will wait with HUMBOLDT-KOLLEG board. Pick-up time for transfer from the Hotel to the Airport, should be checked at the Registration desk, one day before departure.

 Registration desk The Registration Desk will be located at the Aula (ground floor) of . Please collect your Conference pack and name badge on arrival.  About Belgrade Belgrade is the capital city of Serbia and has a population of around 1.7 million. Name Belgrade literary mean the White City. It is one of the oldest cities in Europe and has since ancient times been an important crossing of the ways where the roads of eastern and western Europe meet. The coordinates of Belgrade are marked in the centre of the city (in ): 44°49’14" of geographic latitude north, 20°27’44" of geographic longitude east and 116.75 m above sea level. Belgrade is located at the confluence of the and rivers, where the Pannonian Plain meets the Balkans. The medieval town of , which has been known by the Slavic name of Belgrade since 878, was built at the site where the and the are situated today, above the place where the Sava flows into the Danube. Due to its position it was rightfully named “Gates of the Balkans” and the “Doors of Middle Europe”. Geographically, Belgrade comprises three areas: the Old Town on the right bank of the Sava and Danube, New Belgrade on the left bank of the Sava, and Zemun on the banks of the Danube beyond New Belgrade. Belgrade is the capital of Serbian culture, education and science. It is home to the highest concentration of nationally important science and art institutions: the Serbian Academy of Science and Art, founded in 1886 as the Serbian Royal Academy; the National Library of Serbia, founded in 1832; the National Museum, founded in 1841 and the National Theatre, founded in 1869. in Belgrade Belgrade city public transport is provided through a network of bus, and routes run by GSP "Beograd" and bus services operated by private bus companies, on around 130 routes. Single tickets can be bought: • at kiosks marked with a ticket sales sticker (89 RSD) • in public transport vehicles, from the driver or conductor (150 RSD) Sigle ticket is valid for 90 minutes and it map can be used in multiple vehicles during this time.

 Currency The official currency of Serbia is the Serbian dinar (ISO code: RSD; locally abbreviated as din.). Please note that “dinar” is the only legal tender in Serbia. Exchange offices are ubiquitous in all parts of the city. Banks also perform currency exchange, but almost always at less favourable exchange rates than small exchange offices. Either way, there is no commission charged. Exchange rate is 1 EUR = 118,4 RSD.

 Electricity Electricity in Serbia is supplied at 220V - 50Hz AC.

 Water Tap water in Belgrade is safe to drink. There are also plenty bottled water brands offering regular, mildly carbonated or highly carbonated water.

 Shopping in Belgrade Most shops in Belgrade are open from 08:00 to 20:00 hours, Monday through Saturday. Shoping centeres are open from Monday through Sunday from 8:00 to 22:00 hours. In most shops, cafés and restaurants in Belgrade it is possible to pay by a credit card.

 Not to be missed in Belgrade The historic areas and buildings of Belgrade are among the city’s premier attractions. They include , the National Museum and adjacent National Theatre, Nikola Tesla Museum, Zemun, the Princess Ljubica's Residence, Nikola Pašić Square, , Students’ Square, the Kalemegdan Fortress, Knez Mihailova Street, the Parliament, the Church of Saint Sava, and the Old Palace. The (White Palace), house of royal family Karađorđević, is open for visitors. The palace has many valuable artworks. Nearby, Josip Broz Tito‘s mausoleum, called The House of Flowers, documents the life of the former Yugoslav president. is a river island that has artificially been turned into a peninsula, which proudly bears the name of “Belgrade Sea”.
