RARELYUNABLE PRESS RELEASE AND OUTER HIMALAYAN PRESENTS.... ARTIST – RUDIMENTARY PENI TITLE – POPE ADRIAN 37TH PSYCHRISTIATRIC FORMAT – CD/LP LABEL – SOUTHERN RECORDS / OUTER HIMALAYAN RELEASE DATE: 20 MAY 2013 Southern Records have announced the details of the first Rudimentary Peni reissue in a new series. Re-released in May 2013 will be Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric - a concept album originally released in 1995. Much like the Crassical series, the aim is to make available these vital albums from a punk band who really are unique in their musical style and approach, especially with their witty and macabre lyrics and unmistakable artwork. It has been rumoured that the album was written while lead singer/guitarist Nick Blinko was being detained in a psychiatric hospital under Section 3 of the UK 1983 Mental Health Act. The subject matter of the album is purported to be based on the delusions Blinko was experiencing at the time, particularly the idea that he was to assume the Papcy, and become "Pope Adrian 37th", the second English pope in history. The first, Nicholas Breakspeare, was coincidentally from Blinko's hometown of Abbotts Langley. Musically, Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric has the band venturing into expanded song structures (their typical song prior to this being one or two minutes long) and relentless, cyclical riffs. The repetitive lyrical phrases and blistering sounds create an oppressive and compelling atmosphere which does much to reinforce the ideas of obsession which shroud both the concept and mythology of this utterly unique album. Pope Adrian 37th Psychristiatric marks the first in a regular series where Rudimentary Peni releases will be remastered from original analogue tapes and reissued.

THE PRIMAL SCREAMER Nick Blinko A gothic horror novel about severe mental distress and punk rock. The novel is written in the form of a diary kept by a psychiatrist, Dr. Rodney H. This semi-autobiographical novel from Rudimentary Peni singer, guitarist, lyricist, and illustrator Nick Blinko, plunges into the worlds of madness, suicide, and anarchist punk. Book Condition: New. Brand New, Unread Copy in Perfect Condition. A+ Customer Service! Summary: 'The Day The Country Died' is the long-awaited follow-up to Ian Glasper's successful 'Burning Britain', and sees the author exploring in minute detail the obscure, esoteric, UK anarcho-punk scene of the early Eighties. If the bands in 'Burning Britain' were loud, political and uncompromising, those examined in 'The Day The Country Died' were even more so, totally prepared to risk their liberty to communicate the ideals they believed in so passionately. With Crass and Poison Girls opening the floodgates, the arrival of bands such as Zoundz. Flux Of Pink Indians, Conflict, Subhumans, Dirt, The Mob, Rudimentary Peni, Anti-Sect, Omega Tribe and Icons Of Fifth heralded a brand new age of honesty and integrity in underground music. It was a time when punk stopped being merely a radical fashion statement, and became a force for real social change; a genuine revolutionary movement, driven by some of the most challenging noises ever committed to tape. Anarchy, as regards punk rock, no longer meant 'cash from chaos', it meant 'freedom, peace and unity'. Anarcho-punk took the rebellion inherent in punk from Day One to a... The effervescence of New York's underground scene was contagious and spread to England with a 1976 tour of the Ramones that was artfully manipulated to start a fad (after the "100 Club Festival" of september 1976 that turned British punk-rock into a national phenomenon). In the USA the punk subculture was a combination of subterranean record industry and of teenage angst. In Britain it became a combination of fashion and of unemployment. Music in London had been a component of fashion since the times of the Swinging London (read: Rolling Stones). Punk-rock was first and foremost a fad that took over the Kingdom by storm. However, the social component was even stronger than in the USA: it was not only a generic malaise, it was a specific catastrophe. The iron rule of prime minister Margaret Thatcher had salvaged Britain from sliding into the Third World, but had caused devastation in the social fabric of the industrial cities, where unemployment and poverty reached unprecedented levels and racial tensions were brooding.

Minor Compositions Open Access Statement – Please Read This book is open access. This work is not simply an electronic book; it is the open access version of a work that exists in a number of forms, the traditional printed form being one of them. All Minor Compositions publications are placed for free, in their entirety, on the web. This is because the free and autonomous sharing of knowledges and experiences is important, especially at a time when the restructuring and increased centralization of book distribution makes it difficult (and expensive) to distribute radical texts effectively. The free posting of these texts does not mean that the necessary energy and labor to produce them is no longer there. One can think of buying physical copies not as the purchase of commodities, but as a form of support or solidarity for an approach to knowledge production and engaged research (particularly when purchasing directly from the publisher). The open access nature of this publication means that you can: • read and store this document free of charge • distribute it for personal use free of charge • print sections of the work for personal use • read or perform parts of the work in a context where no financial transactions take place However, it is against the purposes of Minor Compositions open access approach to: • gain financially from the work • sell the work or seek monies in relation to the distribution of the work • use the work in any commercial activity of any kind • profit a third party indirectly via use or distribution of the work • distribute in or through a commercial body (with the exception of academic usage within educational institutions) The intent of Minor Compositions as a project is that any surpluses generated from the use of collectively produced literature are intended to return to further the development and production of further publications and writing: that which comes from the commons will be used to keep cultivating those commons.

June 2017 Rickmansworth Urban District Council (UDC) (which included Croxley Green), Chorleywood UDC, and Watford Rural UDC (which included Abbotts Langley, Sarratt, South Oxhey and Carpenders Park) did not want to go together, but had no choice. No area wanted to have the name of another part of the new district so a public competition was held and Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) was born. The Grand Union Canal passes to the south of Rickmansworth. Here it merges with the Rivers Chess, Colne and Gade. After Rickmansworth, the canal follows the valley of the River Gade, a tributary of the River Colne, passing the site of Croxley paper mill. Most of TRDC residents are high-earning families, affluent married couples whose successful careers have afforded them financial security and a spacious home in a prestigious and established residential area. While some are mature empty-nesters or elderly retired couples, others are still supporting their teenage or older children. TRDC is an area which has one of the lowest rates of hate crime, robberies, domestic abuse and violence against another person. It also has low criminal damage, vehicle crime and anti-social behaviour. It has a mixture of business and industry. The main employment areas are at Croxley Business Park, Tolpits Lane, Kings Langley, Maple Cross, Rickmansworth and Leavesden.

  • And the Bands Played On
10 December 2020 The Bush Telegraph AND THE BANDS PLAYED ON Andrew Shields uncovers the re- markable musical heritage of the Red Lion On 7 July 1972, a newly formed pop group played at the Red Lion. They didn’t dress in denim like most other musicians of the era; in fact, their heavily stylised presentation – a frontman with an extravagant ’50s quiff and a keyboard player sporting full make-up and gloves – could hardly have been more opposed to the prevailing fashion. Three weeks earlier, their appearance on BBC2’s ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’ had raised eyebrows for its art-pop pretensions; by mid-August, their first single, ‘Virginia Plain’, was storming up the charts and the band were booked as support to David Bowie at two huge London concerts. From a room above a pub in Leytonstone to the stage of the Rainbow Theatre in just six weeks – quite a journey for Bryan Ferry, Brian Eno and Roxy Music. Led Zeppelin – the truth! One of the joys of living in this area over the last decade has been its re-emergent music scene; in particular, the restoration of the Ley- tonstone Ballroom above the Red Lion. From Jazzie B to Norman Jay, the Blockheads to snooker legend Steve Davis, who DJ’d during the wonderful Shake the High Road Festival in Lose the 2018, this iconic venue has attracted some ma- lawnmower jor names in recent years. We can only hope it will do so again when the Covid-19 pandemic The Who delivered is under control.
