It is one of the regular annual publications of Bureau of Statistics. The information presented in this publication has been collected through Census of Educational Institutions for the academic year 2014-15 (As on 31st March 2015). The Census covered all the Arts & Science Intermediate Degree and Post Graduate Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools located in the Punjab and functioning under the administrative control of Education Department of the Punjab Government, Directorate of Federal Government Educational Institutions (Cantonment/Garrison) GHQ Rawalpindi, Pakistan Air Force and Private Organizations. In order to meet the data requirements for educational planning, evaluation and research, the information relating to Number, Enrolment and Teaching Staff has been presented at Tehsil/District/Division level. The number of students enrolled in each group of studies i.e. Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, Computer Science, Humanities, Home Economics/Commerce at Intermediate level, B.A./ B.Sc. B.C.S. at Degree level, BS 4-year Program and M.A./ M.Sc. at Post Graduate level has also been incorporated in the publication. It is hoped that this publication would prove a useful reference for the users. The cooperation extended by the Principals of Governments & Private Colleges and Headmasters of Higher Secondary Schools in supplying the information is gratefully acknowledged. Comments and suggestions for the improvement of future issues of the publication will be most appreciated. ( CH. The information collected relates to Number, Enrolment and Teaching Staff of Intermediate, Degree and Post- Graduate Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools located in the Punjab Province and functioning under the Administrative control of the Punjab Government, Directorate of Federal Government Educational Institutions (Cantonment/Garrison) GHQ Rawalpindi, Pakistan Air Force and Private Organizations. The coverage in respect of private institutions, however, is not fully completed.Efforts are being made to extend this coverage. The data in the publication has been presented by Division, District and Tehsil. Directory of Intermediate, Degree & Post-Graduate Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools by District/Tehsil containing the information on Enrolment and Teaching Staff for each institution is also given at the end of the publication. Salient features of the Census results are given as under:- Total number of institutions including Colleges & Higher Secondary Schools in the Punjab covered in the Census was 2012, in which a total of 1095 Colleges ( 221 Intermediate, 670 degree & 204 Post Graduate) and 917 Higher Secondary Schools in 2014-15 as compared to 1914 institutions, in which total of 1015 Colleges (229 Inter, 618 Degree & 168 Post Graduate) and 899 Higher Secondary Schools in the previous year showing an increase of (5.1 %). Total enrolment in both Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools was 1016280 out of which 898244 were enrolled in Colleges (59976 at Intermadiate, 484363 at Degree & 353905 at Post Graduate level) and 118036 in Higher Secondary Schools in the academic year 2014-15 as compared to 941719 students out of which 837197 were enrolled in Colleges (64384 at Intermediate, 437226 at Degree & 335587 at Post Graduate level) and 104522 in Higher Secondary Schools in previous year showing an increase of (4.1 %).
