ABT Sportsline in the FIA Formula E – Geneva Motor Show 2015 A successful start into a new motorsport era ABT Sportsline has had a successful start into a completely new motorsport era. With three top-three places in the first four races and Lucas di Grassi in the lead the only German team in the international Formula E has already left its mark. In May this series for electrically powered formula racers will come to Europe, after stops in Asia and North and South America. On May 23rd Lucas di Grassi and his teammate Daniel Abt will be in Berlin. A top speed of 230 kph, from naught to 100 kph in less than three seconds, a sound like a jetliner during take-off and some extra excitement through a unique FanBoost: the Formula E has certainly got its fans going in the first half of the season and proved wrong its sceptics. Spectators have seen four exciting races thus far, which were only decided in the last laps, or the last bends, for that matter. One of the protagonists is Lucas di Grassi, who by winning the first race made motorsport history and then defended his lead with second and third place. The Formula E has a top-quality line-up: Bruno Senna, Nelson Piquet, Jean-Eric Vergne, Sébastian Buemi, Nicolas Prost, Nick Heidfeld or Jarno Trulli provide some glamour, as do ex-Formula 1 world champion Alain Prost, businessman Richard Branson or actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who have a share in three of the teams. And as unique as the technology is the format: free practice, qualifying and races all take place on one and the same day. ABT Sportsline committed itself to the Formula E as early as autumn 2013. They are thus once more a pioneer in a sunrise project that perfectly fits its innovative spirit. E-power has played its role in the company’s day-to-day business for quite a few years now. And in the Formula E over the next few years ABT also wants to push its own developments and use them, jointly with its partners. The Formula E is not held on permanent race tracks but city courses. After the start in Beijing (China) and stops in Putrajaya (Malaysia), Punta del Este (Uruguay) and Buenos Aires (Argentina), it will see races in Miami and Long Beach (USA both) before in May it will stop in Monaco, Berlin, Moscow (Russia) and London (Great Britain).
