Matthew Overman May, 2010 Economics and Business Abstract This study attempts to explain the effect geographical location has on a National Hockey League (NHL) team's revenue. The effect location has will be compared to other determinants of revenue in the NHL. Data sets were collected from the 2006-2007 and the 2007-2008 seasons. Regression results were analyzed from these data sets. This study found that attendance, city population, and win percentage has a positive and significant effect on revenue. The County expects to lose $61 million in property tax revenue, prompting the Board of Supervisors to declare a fiscal emergency this week. Layoffs have already begun to occur, which will affect the local economy. History teaches us that prices will rise again, however, and we only hope that it happens soon. As previously reported, the Thomas Roads Improvement Program will host a community meeting for the 24th Street Improvement Project on February 4, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Rabobank Convention Center. This meeting will be held in an open house format, and the public is encouraged to attend at any time during the three-hour period and provide input. Exhibits will be set up in the Convention Center Lobby that will illustrate streetscape concepts, and options for hardscape and plant materials that are appropriate to the region’s climate and neighborhood character. City and Caltrans staff will be available to answer questions. Roland Genick, chief architect for Parsons Transportation Group, will provide a presentation in the Convention Center’s Potato Room at 5:00 p.m. that will focus on initial design concepts. The presentation will be repeated at 6:00 p.m. Free parking will be available in the lot south of (behind) the Convention Center. Take Caltrain to San Jose Sharks Playoff Series vs. Anaheim Ducks The home portion of the San Jose Sharks’ quest to bring the Stanley Cup at long last to Northern California begins Monday, April 16, at SAP Center. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. This is Game 3 of a best-of-seven series against Pacific Division rival the Anaheim Ducks. Game 4 is Wednesday, April 18, at 7:30 p.m. Hockey fans can ride Caltrain to the game by getting off at the San Jose Diridon station, located across the street from SAP Center. Trains will run on a typical weekday schedule. The last train on weekdays departs San Jose Diridon station at 10:30 p.m. or 15 minutes after the game ends but departs no later than 10:45 p.m. should the game go into overtime. The train makes all local stops. If the series continues beyond five games, the teams would play Game 6 in San Jose on Sunday, April 22, at a to-be-determined time. Check the team websitefor the official game time and Caltrain website for the Sunday service scheduleand Caltrain Sharks Service. Caltrain is a proof-of-payment system; tickets are not sold onboard trains but can be purchased at vending machines at the stations. To save time on the return trip, passengers are encouraged to buy a Day Pass or utilize the new Caltrain Mobile ticketing app. Clipper card users are reminded to tag on and tag off. Parking at Caltrain stations costs $5.50 for the day, and permits can be purchased through ticket machines onsite. -

WINNIPEG SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Wild’s 2021-22 National Hockey League (NHL) regular season schedule, presented By Associated Bank, was released today. The Wild opens the season in Anaheim on Friday, Oct. 15 – the seventh straight campaign Minnesota will start on the road. The Wild returns to Saint Paul for its home opener on Tuesday, Oct. 19, hosting the Winnipeg Jets at Xcel Energy Center. Game times and Broadcast information will Be announced at a later date. The 2021-22 schedule consists of 82 games – 41 home contests and 41 road contests. Minnesota’s home schedule features 20 weekend games (four on Friday, nine on Saturday and seven on Sunday). The Wild will host the St. Louis Blues in the 2022 NHL Winter Classic on Saturday, Jan. 1 at Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. Minnesota’s three home games in October are the fewest in franchise history while the 25 home games from Jan. 1 to the end of the season are the most in franchise history in a full season. The Wild has a franchise- high 12 home games during the month of March and a franchise-best nine-game homestand from March 13-31. The Wild will play 26 games against Central Division opponents, including three games each against AriZona (two home, one road) and St. Louis (one home, two road). -
