Ubisoft Announces Enchanted Arms™ for the Playstation®3 System UBISOFT ANNOUNCES ENCHANTED ARMS™ FOR THE PLAYSTATION®3 SYSTEM Fantasy Role-Playing Adventure Coming March 2007 Paris, FRANCE – January 11, 2007 – Today Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, announced that Enchanted Arms™ is being developed for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and will be available in stores this March. Enchanted Arms is being created by development studio FromSoftware in Japan and is one of the first true next-generation Japanese role-playing games (RPG) arriving on the PLAYSTATION 3 system. The adventure takes place in a fantasy world filled with beautiful cinematic graphics and vibrant characters. It includes more than 50 hours of gameplay and is the only next-gen RPG with the fast-action SpeedTactics Battle System, which enables the player to move his or her characters and use distance-dependent attacks while in battle. In Enchanted Arms, players will embark on an epic RPG adventure and escape to a fantasy world filled with unique and bizarre creatures. Taking the role of Atsuma, enchanter-in-training, players will transform from a naïve student into the most powerful savior in a war 1,000 years in the making. In an immersive, deep storyline filled with increasingly difficult challenges, players will meet new allies and master Atsuma’s special fighting and magic abilities. Paris, July 27, 2006 – Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers , today announced sales for the first quarter ended June 30, 2006. Revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2006-2007 was 70 M€, an increase of 62% (64% at constant exchange rates) compared to 43 M€ in the first quarter of 2005-2006. First quarter sales outperformed the guidance of 60 M€ communicated at the time of Ubisoft's fourth quarter 2005-2006 revenue release. 85% of first quarter sales were generated on high margin platforms (PC and new generation consoles). Best selling products included : • Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced WarFighter ® with over 570 000 units sold (Xbox360 and PC), • Heroes of Might & Magic® V (PC), with more than 350 000 units sold. Upon launch, Heroes of Might and Magic® V ranked N°1 in PC sales in the UK, France and Germany. The strong growth seen during the quarter was mainly related to strong sales in the United States, which saw a 34% increase in sell-through in an overall market which was up by 7%1. North American sales represented 49% of total revenue, compared to 31% in the first quarter of 2005-2006. In the first six months of the calendar year, Ubisoft’s US market share increased to 7%, compared to 5% in the first half-year of 2005.

El presente trabajo de investigación tiene como objetivo recorrer la historia y desarrollo de la empresa, así como la trayectoria de su director creativo y mostrar cómo han influido en la industria del videojuego. También observamos los diferentes tipos de géneros como el Rol o la Acción, donde pueden enmarcarse los juegos que desarrolla esta compañía. Después se analizan los títulos más importantes y representativos de la empresa durante los últimos años y cuáles han sido sus influencias. Estableceremos unas pautas o características específicas que definirán el término Souls-like, un nuevo género procedente a partir del éxito de los últimos juegos de FromSoftware. Por último, se analizaran diferentes títulos cómo Salt and Sanctuary o Hollow Knight que se pueden considerar seguidores o imitadores del estilo de la compañía que vamos a analizar.
