AFC NOTES FOR USE AS DESIRED FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, 11/24/15 CONTACT: JON ZIMMER http://twitter.com/NFL345 PATRIOTS AIM TO CLINCH SEVENTH CONSECUTIVE AFC EAST TITLE The New England Patriots have reached 10-0 for the second time in franchise history and first time since 2007, when they finished the regular season undefeated and advanced to Super Bowl XLII. “It feels good to win,” said quarterback TOM BRADY after the Patriots’ 20-13 win against the Bills on Monday Night Football. “It's obviously hard to get to this point (10-0). So, we'll just keep fighting.” The Patriots are the fourth defending Super Bowl champion to start a season 10-0, joining Green Bay (13-0 in 2011), Denver (13-0 in 1998) and San Francisco (10-0 in 1990). This weekend, New England can clinch its seventh consecutive division title, which would tie the 1973-79 Los Angeles Rams for the longest streak in NFL history. The Patriots will travel to Denver to face the Broncos in a battle of first-place teams in primetime on Sunday Night Football (8:30 PM ET, NBC). The Patriots, who also won five consecutive division titles from 2003-2007, are the only team in NFL history to win 11 division championships in a 12-year span. Instead, Hall of Famers Jim Kelly and Joe Montana were the starting quarterbacks as the Bills bested the Chiefs 30-13 on Jan. 23, 1994. Advancing easily, the AFC's pre-Patriots dynasty moved on to their fourth straight Super Bowl appearance — and loss. Indeed, it marked the end of an era for both teams; Montana's final game and the last gasp of a Bills regime charred by the losses that mattered most. It's the cross Allen and the 2021 version of this team has to bear, that 0-4 Super Bowl record as they seek the team's first-ever NFL championship. After a long run of futility, including an 18-year playoff drought and six straight last-place finishes in the AFC East, they're on the precipice of rising again.

  • American Football
COMPILED BY : - GAUTAM SINGH STUDY MATERIAL – SPORTS 0 7830294949 American Football American Football popularly known as the Rugby Football or Gridiron originated in United States resembling a union of Rugby and soccer; played in between two teams with each team of eleven players. American football gained fame as the people wanted to detach themselves from the English influence. The father of this sport Walter Camp altered the shape and size of the ball to an oval-shaped ball called ovoid ball and drawn up some unique set of rules. Objective American Football is played on a four sided ground with goalposts at each end. The two opposing teams are named as the Offense and the Defense, The offensive team with control of the ovoid ball, tries to go ahead down the field by running and passing the ball, while the defensive team without control of the ball, targets to stop the offensive team’s advance and tries to take control of the ball for themselves. The main objective of the sport is scoring maximum number of goals by moving forward with the ball into the opposite team's end line for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the challenger's goalposts which is counted as a goal and the team gets points for the goal. The team with the most points at the end of a game wins.
