SCHOOL

Wesleyan Christian Academy is a K-12 college preparatory school located in High Point, NC. It is a division of the Wesleyan Education Center, which is a ministry of First Wesleyan Church.

ENROLLMENT

Total enrollment is 2013-2014 was 1005, with 375 students in grades 9 – 12. Admission is open to all qualified students and is based on academic records admissions testing, personal interviews, and recommendations.

ACCREDITATION

Wesleyan Christian Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Christian Schools International and holds membership in the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals. All teachers are certified by the state of North Carolina.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Students must earn a minimum of 23 credits, including 4 in English, 3 in Math, 3 in Science, 3 in Social Studies and 2 in a Foreign Language, 2 in Bible, 1 in Physical Education, and 1 in Philosophy. Seniors must also complete 12 hours of senior service.

GRADING SYSTEM, GPA, AND RANKING

The academy grading scale is as follows: A+ = 99-100; A= 95 – 98; A- = 93 – 94; B+ = 91– 92; B = 87 – 90; B- = 85 – 86; C+ = 83 – 84; C = 79 – 82; C- = 77 – 78; D+ = 75 - 76; D = 72 - 74; D- = 70 – 71; F = Below 70.

Grade Point Average is calculated at the end of each year, based on final grades. All grades earned at Wesleyan Christian Academy are included in the GPA. GPA is calculated on a 4 point scale, with weighting for AP and Honors courses according to the following scale: one extra point for honors courses and two extra points for AP courses.

Wesleyan provides a rigorous college preparatory curriculum for all students and does not rank.
