PRIMARYPRIMARY LINKLINK SCHOOLSSCHOOLS

NEWS FROM ST JAMES’

It has been a very busy and exciting term here at St James’ CE Primary School, we are building upon the fantastic achieve- ments from the previous academic year in Early Years, Key stage 1 and Key Stage 2 where results were above national comparisons in all areas. Early on in the term we held Welcoming Worship for our new reception class intake. Each child was introduced to the school by their Year 6 buddy, and presented with a prayer book as a gift from the school.

Classes have been on exciting educational visits to a variety of destinations, St Albans Veralanium Museum, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye to name just a few! We have had sporting success with both the girls and boys football teams and more recently our gymnastic teams flourished in the Enfield Gymnastic Festival! Each class has been allocated a charity by the Pupil Leadership Team and will be busy throughout the year raising money by holding many different events, including cakes sales, sponsored events and a Christmas Market. As a whole school community we held a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Care and raised a staggering amount; it was lovely to see so many parents coming together for such a worthwhile cause.

Reception class, Year 1 and Year 2 starred in our nativity performance of “Angel Express”. Our choir performed beauti- fully at the Carols by Candlelight Service at St James’ Church.

We are all looking forward to the new term and the adventures it will hold.

NEWS FROM ST GEORGE’S FREEZYWATER

What an exciting term we’ve had this year at Freezywater St George’s! The year began with our Year 6 residential trip to Norfolk where they had a brilliant time participating in team work activities and sports events. Our Year 3s also had a lovely day out in Hoddesdon at the ‘Celtic Harmony Camp’ as part of their learning about the Stone Age. Our lovely new Reception class have been settling in well and making lots of new friends. They were even treated to sparklers on the 5th November for Firework’s Night! NEWS FROM ST GEORGE’S FREEZYWATER Year 2 had a fantastic time visiting St Paul’s Cathedral – learning about the life of Jesus and St Paul and climbing all the way to the top of the Whispering Gallery. Year 5 also got stuck into science watching a special demonstration about forces at the Science Museum in London.

Our sports teams have also been very busy with our Gymnastics Team achieving second place in the Borough Gymnastics Festival. Our boys’ and girls’ football teams have also been working hard, and our girls’ team have already won their league cluster.

We have been lucky enough to be visited again this year by the team from Pathway’s who have been teaching us all about important people in the Bible and the lessons they have taught us. We have also held several services in the church and are busy preparing for our upcoming Nativity Performances! We have been getting into the Christmas spirit in full swing with our ‘FRIENDS of Freezywater’ hosting a superb Christmas market enjoyed by families and staff. We are all enjoying the festivities and looking forward to our holidays. We hope the children have a wonderful and peaceful Christmastime.
